Nothing beats camping for free on the water. 2 different sites and some parking areas for the boat landing. sites have fire rings and picnic table and flat ground. takes 30mins to get to on dirt road but road is not too bad. very clean site without any trash! have to look around for dead/down wood for campfire. quality site and only some noise from house nearby.

After 15.7 miles on a dirt logging road, you arrive at this two spot camping area and boat launch. The road narrows and turns into an ATV trail beyond this point. The road is pretty well maintained, but does have some washboard sections and ruts. It is easily passable in most vehicles, but would not tow anything but a small camper back there. We drove in from Wesley, ME, since we wanted to check out several other campsites along the logging road, but you can bypass some of the gravel road if you come in from Grand Lake Stream.

The two spots are both on the waters edge. 1 is immediately as you enter on the left and 2 is tucked back (where we stayed). Both had fire rings, no trash, and could easily accommodate a small RV, van, or overlander. There was a pit privy, but no water, so bring in what you'll need. The nearest town is Grand Lake Stream, which does have a small store and is roughly 10 miles of gravel road away.

We loved the scenic drive back and would likely see wildlife during dawn/dusk hours. The lake is supposedly a very good spot for fishing and the river that it feeds starts right next to campsite 1. This is primarily a stop on the ATV trail, and a group came in while we were there, but decided to move on. It was extremely quiet throughout the night with only the sounds of the river and the occasional curious animal. Be advised that this area has plenty of mosquitos during certain times and there were thousands that appeared to laugh at our ThermaCell and natural repellant. We faired okay wearing long sleeves and pants, but our dog had numerous bites despite minimizing his exposure. A screen tent (we used a Clam from Quick-Set) should be considered a must if you want to enjoy the outdoors while the bitey bugs are out in force.

We put one bar of Verizon, but even that was spotty, so be prepared to be disconnected while enjoying this serene spot.
