Great campground convenient to Custer and Custer State Park. Site #11 is in full sun but is big enough for any size rig. Very clean bathrooms.

Vary nice clean Camp Ground But not made for large 5th wheels. Did not see cabins but from out side looked clean and nice. Wifi not good is the only down side. Just passing through on our way home.

We just pulled out from staying the night at the gorgeous Roost Resort. We were on our way through from Wisconsin back home to Colorado and found this gem on Campendium. Shelah was so friendly and helpful and the grounds and bathrooms are impeccable! Everything was well-maintained and very clean. There are adorable cabins and tent sites as well as RV sites. We stayed in a full hookup site for our Airstream and had such beautiful views. We enjoyed happy hour outside looking over the meadow and mountains. We look forward to returning next time we are in the Black Hills!

We stayed here in our 39-foot motor home in one of the two sites with 30A full hookups for seven days in mid-May 2020. AT&T service was 2-3/4 bars. WiFi was generally strong, but reportedly weak in the remaining RV sites in the back loop. Most sites feature extraordinary views of the neighboring valley (where we saw many deer and antelope) and the rock outcroppings across it. Tom, the owner, was very attentive. The campground entrance has great curb appeal. The grounds are immaculate for a relatively rustic campground with pads that are either gravel, grass, or a combination of the two. The buildings are mostly log construction. The restrooms feature pine-knot paneling throughout and are immaculately maintained. The location is near shopping, restaurants, and services in the west part of Custer. We look forward to staying here again when we return for a month in September-October.

Expected to stay at Custer SP (they have 7 campgrounds). Couldn't get in, booked mid week in September. Came out of park toward town, found this gem. Love it, clean, neat, showers/restrooms. Mule deer in abundance. Parked a 40' coach in site 3 with great view of the pasture. Only 3 other campers here.

Stayed here 8/30/19 to 9/4/19. I needed a place to spend a few nights in Custer over labor day weekend and was worried I wouldn't be able to find anything with only a weeks notice, but these guys got me right in. I had site #3 which is probably the hardest site to access. You have to back down a hill and then around an S curve into the site, dodging a tree on one side and a steep dropoff on the other. The owner was super nice though and offered to come help me if I needed it. I ended up not having any trouble getting it in and found an area on the site that was perfectly level. The trouble to get in there did have a payoff though because I had an awesome view down into the valley and basically had an entire backyard to myself.
The location here can't be beat. The park is right outside Custer and takes only a few minutes to get into town. It's also close to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Custer State Park. My site also had a small fire pit and a picnic table, though the table was kind of away from the site. As I mentioned before, this site does have kind of a steep dropoff on the side of your doors, so I could see it potentially being a bit dangerous for older or handicapped people as you could pretty easily slip and fall down the hill.
I only went in the restrooms once but they looked immaculate. Never used the showers. My site had full hookups and everything worked well. Overall I had a great experience here and would highly recommend it.

Wow, we loved this little family-run campground! It is the perfect base camp for everything you'd want to do in the Black Hills. One mile from Custer, 1.5 miles from Custer State Park, 10 minutes to Crazy Horse, 30 minutes to Mount Rushmore, 30 minutes to Wind Caves National Park, and 15 minutes to Sylvan Lake.
It's a quaint park with only a handful of spots - 2 pull-through spots and 5-8 back-ins. The tree cover is super peaceful and you get gorgeous views of the Black Hills granite formations and a lovely meadow where white-tailed deer graze every night and morning. Deer even walk right into the camp!
We loved that each site had a fire ring and a dedicated trash can. Only $5 for a huge stack of firewood and $1 for ice. The bathhouse was the best restroom and shower facility I've seen at an RV park. And the owners were so friendly! The only issue we had was the park had a ton of pine trees, making it scary to maneuver our 36' fifth wheel. Other than that, an amazing stay and we would definitely return!

When we decided last minute to go on a trip to South Dakota, we forgot about Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and realized we may not find a place. The Roost Resort had one spot left, and we should have known when they had to verify if our rig could fit it was going to be a tight squeeze with some advanced maneuverability. This is a small, tranquil lot, which made it harder to get into slot 12, which was up a slope where you couldn't directly back up into it (since someone was in slot 11), you had to backwards turn into it. It was quite a challenge for us newbies, but it ended up working out. The box/water ended up on the wrong side of our trailer, but everything reached. The view was great! Despite the headache of getting into that spot, we really liked our stay. Because there are only 12 spots, it didn't feel crowded at all. The cell service was really good, and how close this is to Custer, Crazy Horse, Wind Cave and Mt. Rushmore is fantastic. We already want to come back and spend more time in the area, and we would definitely stay here again. Just not in slot 12.
