“Nice but crowded.”

Boondocking in 4-door sedan w/ tent setup. This place was very beautiful. I did have to drive a bit inwards off the highway about (4.5 miles) until I found a place. Got in on a Thursday and it was already pretty packed and people kept coming in for the weekend. Washboards most of the way, but not that bad. The camping sites are made ri... more

“Epitome of desert camping ✌️❤️”

Reviewed Apr 24, 2018

Amazing views. A little bumpy on the road in. Lots of sites in different sizes. We shared an open circle with up to 4 other campers and still felt private. Close to town where we did laundry, picked up some supplies and visited the dog park. But not too close! We would have stayed longer if our inverter didn’t die. Some off... more

“Great free camping spot to explore Sedona”

Reviewed Apr 20, 2018

Overall Rating

We really appreciated having a free spot to camp while we made day trips to Sedona to hit some of the hiking trails. It quickly turns into a dirt road after you turn off highway 89A. However, the road is in good shape, with a few washboard patches here and there. The spots here can fill up a bit, so it's best to arrive earlier in th... more

“Scenic view spot but have to travel far down road. ”

Great spot only about 20 mim from Downtown Sedona. Roads are a little rough after the first 1.5 miles but it gets better. We drove in about 8 miles down this road and vered to the left were the first fork is. Discovered a nice hike called Hideout Cave Robbers Roost Trail. Recommended to have 4wd to access certain areas and totally avoi... more

“Inexperienced Campers Abound”

We agree with all the comments about this area, the good and the bad. If you can get over the washboard road and get a spot as far from the road with passing OHVs then it’s not so bad. It’s a treat waking to hot air balloons at sunrise. It’s generally quite quiet, no highway noise, only passing vehicles and OHVs. The most unfortunat... more

The washboard roads were horrible!!! We will never put our darling 23ft airstream through that again! It was crazy crowded, ATV’s, pink Jeep tours, dirt bikes cruising through all the time. The campsite was clean but definitely need max leveling at least at the one we were able to find. The traffic alone was a huge turn-off! The v... more

I was here on a Sunday in October and the area was very busy. Lots of traffic, most spots taken. I found a spot by the cattle guard just before the T. Just so much traffic, mostly Jeeps and not very quiet or relaxing. Lots of government traffic really in the morning. Obviously I wasn't in the ideal spot, and based on other reviews, ... more
