We pulled in on a Sunday morning when the waste water treatment plant was closed. The dump station was open because it is located in the parking lot in front of the office of the Aninal Shelter which is attached and next to the waste water treatment office. There is a gate at the highway, but we never saw it closed or locked during our four days in Telluride. You have to move an 18” diameter lid to access the sewer dump. The lid has SEWER printed on it, and it’s made of aluminum so it’s not very heavy. I only shifted the lid far enough to get my sewer hose in. But be aware. THE OPENING IS BIG ENOUGH TO FALL INTO, SO REMAIN VIGILENT WHILE MOVING AROUND THE LID. Quite frankly, if you were to take the lid off entirely, you’d probably be better off in staying away from the open shaft.
For FREE, this is a great dump station. It is easy to access; it was when we were there. But you’d be best advised to park on the access road at its junction with a road leading left and down and walk up to scope out the turnaround room. There is a large concrete parking/storage area to the left as you pull up to the front of the office building. It was vacant when we were there, so we used it turn our truck and trailer around; our total length is nearly 50’. Backing up to the sewer manhole is easy from there. Just be sure not to back onto the sewer manhole cover. There is a fresh water hose on the exterior wall of the office building that we used for rinse water. We did NOT hook it up to our trailer to flush our trailer black tank so as to be respectful of a fresh water line. However we did connect a hose sprayer and spray out our tank through the toilet opening. But again, no one was there because the office was closed at 9am on Sunday morning. They might not look favorably on you using this hose to flush out your black tank even though you wouldn’t contaminate their line by doing so in the manner that we used it.
THANK YOU TELLURIDE FOR ALLOWING FREE RV DUMPING!!!
Desert Rat would use this facility again

“It's free but it'll cost you some effort.”

Great location near town but awkward access. It's in the corner of small parking lot. Then, once you get positioned close enough for your hose to reach, it's an industrial size hole which can get messy. The water is on the side of the building.

“Weird setup”
Reviewed 9/4/2017
Getting a trailer into the proper position is a PITA. Also, you pull off a manhole cover that reveals a cistern with a hole in the bottom that can't possibly keep up with the flow from an RV - so you're basically dumping into a pit the diameter of a manhole. Weird, and messy. But thank you to Telluride for the free dump and water!

“Closed”

Road closed signs blocked off the parking lot for some reason. Someone should just dump in the parking lot. Maybe then they'll provide a reliable service
