Beautiful campsites right on the water's edge. The 4 mile dirt/dust/rock roadway to get to it is pretty rough. It took me 22 minutes to travel that 4 miles.

I've never seen the road in to the cove in such poor condition. Just because you can make it...doesn't mean you should...especially here! Serious SERIOUS washboard the entire way. It will destroy your trailers suspension bushings...guaranteed! Sooooo not worth the damage it will do. And never have I seen potholes like there is now....I measured them up to 18" deep..oil pan destroyer! I didn't see any big rocks sticking up like people have mentioned...except one spot where they could do damage if you aren't smart enough to drive off to the side. Road needs serious attention and grading. I checked it out in my big 4 wheel drive to see if I wanted to put my trailer through it. HELL NO!! It shook the crap out of my rig and it's made for rough roads! You would have to be brain dead to think it's worth it....beyond stupid!
Yet....the place was packed!! Lmao...couldn't believe it. Explained all the parts and pieces of things you see on the road going in. Out of the 28 vehicles I counted there...25 were from California. And of course lots of broke campers who can't afford quiet generators...using Champion ones so loud and rattly you could hear them clear to Hoover Dam I'm sure. The echoing noise in there was beyond ridiculous and pathetic. Cheapass generators should be banned from camp use...and those dumb enough to buy them banned from camping! One broke camper with a cheap Champion ruins it for EVERYONE else...especially here where it echos so bad.
This USED to be my favorite get away spot. Now it has dropped to the bottom of my list. This is the present condition mid October 2021. If you have a brain and actually use it...you won't put your motorhome or trailer through the incredible abuse that will occur using the road in anymore.

The trip was about 2 hours long, if you're coming from Searchlight or Las Vegas which is where we came from, be careful with going through the mile-long trail that's pretty much dirt and is narrow. Small cars might get stuck going up on the way back. Come early if you plan to come with a large party. Almost my entire party got swimmer's rash which is weird because we wore rashguards and took extreme caution with everything. Some kids had to get out because they could not stand the itching from the water. Those same kids got rashes and hives a couple of hours later. The bathrooms do not flush, it's a seat with a hole on top of a pile of waste. There is a cleanup crew that comes early in the morning which is nice. Parking is free. There are surprisingly a lot of people that bring jet skis so be careful if you swim more in the center or deeper end because of the waves.

The road to get in is a low elevation with small hills. It is a washboard road that also has some big potholes. My rig is 38 feet long and we had no issues. It is a well known free site directly on the water so expect crowds. Quite a few large dumpsters and pit toilets. The water quality and view were absolutely amazing!

We arrived there knowing that the road was washboardy but it was alot worse than what we expected. First of all are little towed car broke down on the hill coming in on the road. We probably hit a rock that made a hole in the oil pan. We couldn't move the car therefore we decided to hitch it up again and go down the road to the lake with the intention of coming back up to go in town to look for a car repair. After going down this road with rocks coming out, and holes with a 35 ft motorhome, we finally were so tired that we decided to stay and try to make the best of it. It is a great place but during the week-end it filled up with all types of people, music loud until 3:00 am, generators going on all day, smoke from the fire pits blown by the wind into the rv, etc. The worst experience we ever had boondocking. We've seen it and loved the lake for swimming and kayaking but I guess this is not a place for us. Glad that we've seen it but it finally cost me $ 684.00 in repairs because of my desire to see this particular spot. I've learned to sometimes put aside a dream spot and think about being more preventfull.

The drive in was average washboard, but no major sand or ruts and just slow going with our 23’ trailer. Definitely worth it as the cove is beautiful. We stayed at the far southern end and our view of the mini-cove was free of other campers. Site was half full on Monday and nearly full by Friday morning. Only downside to our exact spot was it lacked cell coverage for AT&T until we put up our Weboost 65RV and then had 3 bars. All other spots along the water’s edge did have 2 bars coverage.
Ducks aplenty, and many other birds too! Water temp was 61 degrees on April 6 and weather was warm enough to make it a worthwhile soak. Picked up some trash and made use of the ginormous trash bins that are placed along the road. Area is patrolled daily by BLM.
Very peaceful low key spot during the weekdays, but we left before the weekend crowd arrived.

But once you arrive you get a nice wide mostly sandy beachfront (with some rocks and mud). Toilets and dumpsters are available. Maybe 15 folks camping on a Sunday night - evenly mixed between tents, vans, trailers, and motor homes. No one was up in anyone’s grill, unless you count the guy not happy that someone’s dog got up by his dog and wasn’t on a leash. Very quiet by 8pm except for the wind. Water level a bit low and a bit of a funky smell, but it was neither poop nor trash - just mud. You’d pay $100/night for this in Colorado, and to have it for free on a 80 degree day in November was quite nice.

It was a bumpy ride to get there. But it was definitely worth it! When arriving you have a beautiful view on Arizona on the other side of the Colorado River. The water was nice. Bring some sandals! It was pretty busy with nice people. But more than enough space.

Washboard road, very slow going. I turned around after about a 1/2 a mile and did not attempt to drive further. I just came from an area where traveling on roads like that ate up my passenger vehicle. Just got into a newer van and did NOT want to keep tempting fate (my van is probably fine -- but it sounded and felt HORRIBLE trying to get in there). Regretted not being able to check it out. (If you're comfortable w/the squeaks and MAJOR rattles the undercarriage of your vehicle -- don't hesitate to at least try.) :)
