We have a 25' Airstream and had plenty of room for our truck and then some. You can hear the highway during the day, but it's not too bothersome (I'm pretty sensitive to noise); at night, the highway is fairly quiet. The vault toilets are immaculate. The camp host was friendly and helpful. It's a bit of a drive to Durango (and beyond), but quite close to Mesa Verde. We would stay here again.

After searching for boondocking in the area with no luck (all the spots were taken that could hold my RV), I gave up and searched for inexpensive locations to stay for the night. Target Tree fit the description at $20 a night.
I meant to stay just 1 night since I generally boondcock and not used to paying for spots yet this one was so pretty I stayed an extra day.
I drove in mid afternoon in July, looked for a spot and paid my fees. The camp host soon stopped by to greet me and mark my site as paid, he was very friendly.
The sites are very clean. And so is the campground. I did have to level my 26' Class C a bit but no problem.
There are short hikes in the area, which I love! I was warned of bear activity so keep in mind safety if you venture out.
I noticed all kinds of campers from tent to large RV - all are welcome! And it was quiet considering the park was full.
I'd camp here again. Happy Trails!

Fairly level, nice picnic table as well as a tent pad. On a hillside so had some cell reception but it was variable. Camp host Blaine was great to talk to, and kept the campground spotless. Thanks Blaine! Spacious sites, only a little traffic noise from the main road about a mile away.
Clean restrooms, trash dumpsters and water spigots located around the campground.

Vault toilets kept very clean and easy to access using trails within the loop. Camp host in July 2020, Blaine, was top notch. Only downside is the road noise. Not bothersome, but you definitely know that you’re not in the middle of the forest as you can hear some of the cars driving by on the nearby highway

All sites have picnic table, and fire pits. Spacious sites with lots of room between the sites. Large pine trees with lots of scrub oak. Green and luscious area. Some hiking on Narrow Gauge Trail. Composting toilets, potable water, and trash for your stay. Water is limited because they have to truck it in from Durango. Nine first come first serve sites, and 15 on line reservable sites. One can usually find a spot even without a reservation. Camp Host on duty.

Found this location while searching campgrounds. Stayed on 6/7/2017 that evening and was a back-up location although there are some pull throughs.. It's primitive with potable water available and compost vault toilet (poor condition). No electricity, dump station, firewood, or showers available. Had to get firewood from Durango. Host wasn't around when I was there. Trash disposal available on the way out. Trails abound, especially to an abandoned rail bed of an old narrow railroad.
It was very quiet with a little road noise.... but when the night comes... it becomes very quiet you could here owls calling. Had a herd of Mule deer come through and the dog made sure they stayed away.... OK... growling made them laugh as she is a small dog.
Had a 19 foot RV trailer behind a jeep. Very nice locations through the campground. We were able to spend some time at Mesa Verde and downtown Durango.
For the previous poster, this place is only open from Mid-May till early November. This all depends of weather and other conditions.

We camped here on 7/15/2017 for 1 night in a 35ft RV. It is a very nice Forest Service CG that does take reservations though we camped on a Saturday night and had no trouble finding a nice spot with no reservations. If we were not on a schedule we would stay longer. We paid $9 with a GA Pass.
