We are 38ft 12’ 7” Class A and had no problem maneuvering. 2 spots as you pull in to unhook your towed, 2nd one is more flat. We were in Loop A Site 18. Loop B is very small and for tiny vehicles! We barely fit when checking it out in our suv so don’t take that right stay left for Loop A. There are lots of open sites, and many where people left early. Very peaceful although you can hear the tires on the highway but nothing loud or bothersome, night time was peaceful even with all our windows open. Sites are all private and tucked in & campground is spotless! What an amazing job the camp host is doing! Highly recommend! We got just enough sun in early Sept to keep solar recharging batteries even with scattered clouds and sprinkles.

Pulled in around 8:00 pm. Road as you turn off from hwy is bumpy. However, once in the campground, the road is good! Level sites, many pull thru's for trailers or large rv's. Each site has a picnic table. Definitely recommend this campground!

I love being able to have a wood fire-but you need to purchase in area or campground d/t invasive species. We had rain but the campsite drained well. The only reason for 4 stars was the cost of camping w/ pit toilets, w/o showers, hook ups. We loved being close to Durango-the Animas River is breathtakingly beautiful and downtown Durango, Silverton etc are a charming glimpse to the past.

We stayed here June 30- July 5, 2022. Great National Forrest campground close to a lot of things to see. We visited Four Corners, Mesa Verde, and Durango for July 4th. We were going to go to Canyon of the Ancients but it rained so we spent a nice day reading in the trailer. Very clean campground with water available (no electric or dump). Dump is 8 miles down the road in Durango and free at a gas station. No showers, but we use our own anyway. Pit toilets are cleaned daily by a friendly and attentive host. Most sites seem pretty level and several will hold big rigs. I enjoy these campgrounds more than RV parks, but the wife likes the RV parks so we stay there mostly. So this was a great stop for me. Love being in the forest. I didn't notice much highway noise as you are a little ways off the highway and up the hill. Overall, great place!

The campsites are well cared for and the whole area was kept clean and inviting. The dumpster and water stations were also easy to access. The restrooms were sanitized twice daily which is a big plus for me. They also have wood for sale for the fire rings. The overall experience was peaceful and relaxing. One of the best kept campgrounds I’ve been to! I plan to make this one of my annual camping spots! Even though the rate is $22.00, with my senior pass I paid $11.00.

We had no problem maneuvering our 35’ fifth wheel to our site. Solar was good during the mid-day, but be forewarned, there are plenty of tall trees.

They don't allow you to fill up on water at the spigots dispersed around the campground even if you offer to pay the day use fee despite a lack of posted signage.

Tried stopping here on Oct 17 and there is a closed gate across the entrance. I did not expect it to be officially open, but I was not sure if it would still be available for boondocking. No such luck. Fortunately, Madden Peak Road is only about a half mile away and had several spots available which can handle larger trailers.
