We stayed here twice this summer to do laundry and take showers.
The staff is friendly and shower water is hot and strong. The laundry is cheap, but the machines will not do King comforters.
The sites are very close and maneuvering can be tricky.
Wifi was very good for work. Too many trees for Starlink. Poor Verizon and AT&T

Pros: - Location, location, location!!!! Close to town but far enough to feel away. - Location, location, location!!!! Close to town but far enough to feel away. Less than 30 mins from Crested Butte and everything else you need from Gunnison and its surroundings.
- Everyone that works there is super friendly and welcoming.
- They collect your trash from the site; you just leave it by the road and it's gone.
- Wednesday night we had some music and it was super fun!
- Shade! Needed during this hot July.
- The laundry was clean and cheap - $1.25 per load for the dryer and washer.
Cons:
- The cottonwood trees! Yes, it was great to have all that share but they were blooming so the seeds were everywhere and constantly coming down. Because the wind was hard sometimes, it looked like it was snowing! They get everywhere and it's painful to keep anything outside clean. On top of that, the tree sap was intense. Our truck and trailer got absolutely filthy after 6 nights. I know there isn't much what you can do about this but it's one to be aware of.
- The park is extremely tight and they park you like sardines. Our neighbors were very very close; I had a neighbor from each window. Because the sites were so close to each other, the parking situation was not the greatest. Very tight pulling in and out. Another one to be aware of.
Even with the inconvenience of the cottonwood trees, I would still stay there.
TIP: I'd pay more and take one of the premium sites - less dust from the road and appeared to have less cottonwood seeds.

Stayed here July 2023 with 3 kids and a dog. Loved the park. Playground was nice, laundry facilities were nice and efficient. Met a wonderful family during our stay also. No complaints except the cottonwood seeds were extremely abundant all day. It was everywhere. Lots of mosquitoes at night. Nice shade throughout. Hope to make it back.

We stayed for the month of September and it was amazing. The staff is super friendly and helpful, they maintain the grounds, and the sites are pretty spacious. The WiFi worked okay most of the time but I would recommend using a hotspot which worked well for our remote jobs. About a ten minute drive to town.

Mix of RV and tent camping. The place is pretty well maintained and the tree coverage is great. Dirt roads can be a little dusty unfortunately, and the cell service is deceptive. We had two bars of LTE, but really couldn’t do much with it. Ran a signal test and it was very poor. WiFi is surprisingly decent though!

All in all a pretty good place to stay if you can tolerate close sites and bugs.

The park is a bit on the older side and in a bit of a rundown area sans a couple new house builds around. That aside the park is great, staff is awesome and extremely friendly. My site was a little on the snug side but was ok for my smaller AS. The wifi was a bit spotty but again...it was a holiday weekend and the campground was full. As the title says...The Tall Texan is good for the price and a perfect location for exploring Gunnison, Crested Butte and surrounding areas.
