Lovely campground on Takhlakh Lake, dry camping - bring your own water, tp, bug screen, no hookups, pack out your trash. We use Verizon and had no cell service. Nice camp host, nice fellow campers. Lovely campground on Takhlakh Lake, dry camping - bring your own water, tp, bug screen, no hookups, pack out your trash. We use Verizon and had no cell service. Nice camp host, nice fellow campers. Weekenders tend to be noisy, like at most places, but we observed no outrageous behavior. Weekdays are best for quiet. The road in is unpaved and heavily pot-holed, difficult, dusty and slow but worth the trip. If you continue past Takhlakh you'll travel another 7 or 8 miles to Horseshoe Lake - same difficult road situation and no services. The fishing at Takhlakh is Good. Fisherpeople will taking good sized rainbow trout. The eagles and ospreys like fishing there too. Stunning views of Mt Adams. We'll go back and we recommend it.

This was one of our first camping adventures with our travel trailer since moving to the West Coast and it was amazing. You are truly off the grid with the nearest town (Randle) about 30 miles or so away so there is a bit of adventure getting there. When we went the main road was being worked on so we had to take a bit of a roundabout way which was a little harrowing on small stretches but we made it no problem! The setting is fantastic with the views of Mt. Adams and the lake itself. There is a nice little boat launch area for canoes and kayaks and plenty of hiking trails nearby and down the FS roads. It was very peaceful as the sites are spaced apart nicely. We had site 14 which was a double site and a pull through. We are returning this year and will be at site 20 which is also pull through. We were there in late August and it was not too buggy though I have heard from other reviews that it is buggy in July. We are going back in early August so we will see. There really is no cell coverage here so you can truly disconnect. Hiking up one of the trails nearby did bring you within coverage but you have to seek it out!

This beauty is worth the drive! Some bumpy gravel rounds lead to the best places! Breathtaking views of Mt Adams, several trails, peaceful kayaking, and no cell phone service make this campground a favorite destination! About 55 campsites, we were in site #25. It has just enough room for 2 vehicles, you pay extra for the second. There is a 1.1 mi loop trail around the lake and several others nearby as well as access to the Pacific Crest Trail. Site #44 would make a good double site for people camping together. Site #38 is a good site as well. Love this spot!
