The park was quiet and peaceful. Due to the Florida heat there were a lot of empty sites. Sites seem to be nice size with some being close together and looked fairly level. There was a lot of chlorine in the water - we were told that it was at the max level due to a brown water alert from the previous week. There was so much chlorine that it passed through our filter. The park has some very interesting history. Due to the heat, we did not walk 2 of the trails but the ones we did walk were very nice. There is an abundent population of ticks in the park - non stop picking off ticks. We also had a lot of the small sugar ants coming into our camper. The park staff were not friendly however the volunteers and volunteer campground host were very friendly and helpful. If we want another close to home getaway, we would come back. Cell service was basically non existant - could not open any of our phone apps even though our phone showed 2 bars on 5G. We are not happy with the cell service since there were severe storms in the area and we could not access our weather apps. We did not use the shower house since we had full hook up. Our nightly rate was with Florida senior citizen discount.

If you just go outside the park, you can walk across the old Hillman Bridge. There is a boat ramp and you can canoe or kayak. The park rangers were very nice and my kids did the junior ranger program. Bathrooms we very clean and laundry machines were in working order. Our site was shady and spacious. The only issue we had were ticks. We found a few on our dog and my husband had two on him. Just be careful. We enjoyed our stay.

Nice state park with access to the Suwannee River. There is a scenic hiking trail along the river. The campground has a few sites with vegetation and space in between, but most sites are close together and have little vegetation. The restrooms were clean and the camp hosts were great.

This park is convenient for travelers on I10 as it is only about 6 miles north of I10. However IMO the previous reviews are too high. It is good for FL residents who pay a reduced rate but no value for out-of-staters. Only 3 sites are paved, and the rest are dirt/sand, pretty close to level, but most are very close to neighbors, and some (site 16) are very small. Bathrooms are very good as noted before, and there is a convenient boat put-in and trailer parking lot. Campground is a short distance away from the river, about about 1/4 mile. We encountered mosquitoes in May. Our site was large, immediately adjacent to site 16, and had electric, water, and a sewer connection near the front of the site. There is a dump station located on an unpaved area of the campground.
Come prepared with all food, etc that you need as there are no stores, gas, etc in neighborhood. We had 2 bars cellular service (pretty slow) as was our own wifi--though it did work. This campground is a pretty forest setting, quiet and dark, with good paths for dog walking. But unless you are a kayaker or a hiker, I suggest you move on down the road.

Our site #10 had sewer hook up at the edge of the road so difficult to use but we made it work before we left. The booking site says sites are gravel but they are actually for, so be sure to bring a mat and broom. Bathhouse was SPOTLESS and had 3 showers and 4 stalls each. Great water pressure and plenty of hot water, plus a separate changing area and bench in the shower stall. Trails were in good shape and the scenery along the river was beautiful! Rangers and volunteers were wonderful.

This was a wonderful campsite. The site was back in and level, smooth ground for me. nice wooden picnic table, A firepit at the back of the campsite (behind the camper) near the more wooded area was present and had a metal flip over grate that could be used for cooking. There was a line to hang things from two posts just next to the fire pit. Someone had collected sticks and there was plenty of wood to find when walking around. Water, power, sewage all well located and seemed in good working order to the right of the campsite. The campsites were a bit close to each other, but with the wooded area behind us, we still felt like we had room. The central common bathrooms were clean and there were three showers in the men's area. (I never used them, but they seemed clean). The Columbus cemetery was a cool little find when walking in the nearby woods. The gem was definitely walking along Suwannee river and lime sink trail. There are springs along the river and lots of wildlife and some sandy beaches. The water was a bit high so I didn't see much of the springs but you could see the water in turmoil from water coming out from the spring. Overall very happy with the sites, and the location. There is a playground even and the trails are beautiful. Cell service was spotty and there is no wifi.

On the plus side this location is close to I-10 and we were travelling west on I-10 so this was convenient. The sites are full service, although the sewer connection was so far away I could reach it with 20 feet of sewer hose. We pulled forward and dumped on our way out so that save a stop at the dump station. It served as an overnight spot, but there are better options along this route.
