We were there in early June and the campground was maybe 20% occupied, although all sites were posted as reserved & the campground was posted as full. This contributed to a nice quiet stay. Most sites appear to be nicely shaded. Alas, few sites were level. If you could get a site that was within 4" of level you're doing good. Flush toilets, buildings were in good repair & odorless. NPS is short on staff and on the second day an NPS truck drove through, waved, & continued on. Otherwise, no staff in evidence, but really wasn't needed. All attractions required a vehicle to get to. All in all, a nice park.

Nice park but man you cannot eat or cook outside at all. The yellow jackets swarm you almost instantly. Some sites are fairly unlevel. 20 was fine but tight fit for a rig. Got my 25ft class c in fine. 2 bar LTE confirmed..

Campground is located about 1 mile from Grant Grove. Nearby village has a general store, small restaurant, visitor center and gift shop. Spigots with potable water are accessible from roadside throughout campground.
Sites in the 40s have the incredible sunset view for which this campground is named. Saw a deer meandering through one morning. Lots of birds and ground squirrels. Would absolutely stay here again.

The days we were here Fresno was 100 degrees but at the higher elevation Sunset Campground it was a livable 80. Camp sites are small not many 5th wheel camper spots I counted 3 to 5 maybe. Sunset Campground made a good home base for us one day we went and saw the giant trees then the next day drove to King's canyon for showers. Only two places in the park have showers and nether one even close to Sunset campground.

The bigger sites are toward the front of the campground, and so are most of the campers. The loop farthest from the entrance was pretty much empty while we were here in the beginning of June, and if I were in a small RV with a generator or a tent that's where I'd be.
There aren't any hookups and there isn't a dump station, but there is water, trash and recycling.
Verizon was great, but no AT&T. Over the air HTDV was pretty good, we were able to get CBS.
