Such a wonderful spot to overnight on our way out of Michigan and into Wisconsin. We got in late so we just pulled into an open space in the dark and immediately crawled in and got some shuteye, but the next morning, we saw a handful of spots with electric hookups and one totally prime spot on a little peninsula behind the building surrounded by water. The town of Wakefield is quiet and safe, and the lake this spot is on is beautiful.
Service was great for both AT&T and Verizon.

Sounds too good to be true, but it's not. We arrived early evening and got a prime spot on a tiny peninsula, giving us water views from the windows of three sides of our Airstream, along with a soft sandy beach for our kiddo and pup to run and play on.
The story goes like this - Jim, the owner of the property, bought the land and the old ice rink on it. He plops his trailer down on it and starts offering free campsites, right there on tiny but mighty Sunday Lake. Right in town, but you wouldn't know it, it's quiet and serene. You can see the city park campground across the lake, with packed in campers, but our spot felt secluded in comparison.
Only so many hookups, but water AND electric were available, so arriving early eve is advised. Otherwise there is dry parking along the ice rink or on the parking pad.
It felt safe, comfortable, and quiet. Not buggy until true dusk, and a soft breeze coming off the water the whole time. It felt like a dream. Highly recommend!

We stumbled onto this place on our way to a Walmart not far down the road. There is a large green sign welcoming overnighters to park in this lot. With ample space to park a rig on the pavement, or for the more adventurous you can pull behind the building and park waterfront. There are tables, fire rings, BBQs, and water sprinkled about the area. No matter which spot you choose, the view is spectacular. The area is right off the highway through town, so not completely peaceful, but the view will deafen that road noise no problem.
Three sites appear to be available for longer stays, that include water and electric. Call the number provided in the images for that info.
