Contrary to all the other reviews placed on here, THIS IS NOT A FREE CAMPGROUND. Contrary to all the other reviews placed on here, THIS IS NOT A FREE CAMPGROUND. It has hook ups and the hosts ask if you can donate at least $25 if you use water and electric... tents are $15. no bathrooms available...The hosts said people are putting their campground on 'free camping' sites and it isn't true. They still have water and electric bills at the end of the month, in addition to paying someone to maintain the grounds. They said the people who are leaving without paying are going to ruin it for the people who appreciate the beauty and leave a donation. They asked us to share this info ..they also said they've taken themselves off this 'free campground' site, but people keep putting them back on.

Great spot for a night. Owners did say that it is private and they would like donations to cover costs. Probably shouldn’t be advertised as “free”. Safe travels😊

I found a site right on Lake Superior for $20 a night. It looked great until I found this private property, open to overnights. Free is better when you’re just passing through.
The sign now says “PRIVATE OVERNIGHT CAMPING,” so I wouldn’t normally have stopped. But there were several other campers here, and plenty of Campendium reviews saying it was open to overnighters.
If you’re looking for a silent place, this isn’t it. The campground is just off US-2, and right on Highway 28, a fairly major route, so the trucks get rolling early in the morning. But the price made up for it.
I made a quick dinner, got some shuteye, put a few bucks in the donation box and am back on the road.
PS - T-Mobile has five bars of 5G here!

Loved this spot for one night. It’s a grass lot located right on the lake. Perfect to put the kayak in, let the pup swim and watch the sunset. Perfect for vans, RVs, tents, cars. No bathrooms. Overall, a great spot to stop for a night for no cost (there is a place to put donations!)

Great free campsite owned by a private person. I spoke him him in Mid-may. He said he provides it free of charge for overnight RV parking. He said if you want a little more time then just call the number on the sign. He does have a donation box for those who would like to help him defeat a little of the costs. Verizon cell service was okay. I did submit a video with drone footage if you want to check out the campground.

This was a nice spot by a lake - lovely sunsets. We were the only other van there apart from the guy that owns it. 2 RVs came late and left early. We lucked out and got the site on the peninsula. Absolutely beautiful! Water and electric hook ups, no dump station. Perfect Tmobile service. Swimming right out your front door. This place is a gem. Donations are accepted!

There is a donation box on the sign for the campground. The park is on the property with an ice rink building built in 1939. The owner is very nice. He has business in town but comes out every night to work on property. There is electric and water but no dump station as the owner could not get permits. The bathroom is in the ice rink and is just like a home shower, wonderful! You can see the sunset and sunrise over the lake.
If there is an empty spot you can park in it. The spots are marked by the electric boxes. He allowed us a 4 day stay and told us of local sites to see. Lake of the clouds was beautiful. We drove 13 miles out of our way and were very glad we did.
