This spot seems much better than it is actually. The highway is right next to it, and it is in an industrial area. Very crowded, full with workers. Amenities as described, but kind of kills the vacation vibes. Especially for the money…

Most of the sites were permanent residents. When we got there, the grass at the sights was overgrown. Security was a joke. They have pretend security with a coded entrance gate that didn't work most of the time. They also had no locked gate between the public bike path and the park. They had signs that indicated there were security cameras but there were no active cameras. As a result, our two $1500 locked ebikes were stolen from our site. My wife's attempts to discuss the issues with management of Sun Outdoors were met with unanswered messages. I would not recommend this location.

Check-in process went well with a friendly staff member.
- Rate is high for the tight spaces provided.
- WiFi is poor and drops frequently.
- Freeway noise is somewhat loud.
- Rest rooms/showers are clean, but a bit worn.
- Site pads are concrete.

The place was clean but the spots were way to close together! The staff was miserable. One person in our 14 day stay was pleasant. The dog parks are sharp gravel ..our dog actually cut their paw pad on it. For a one night stop over it’s fine but would not stay longer than that

It's a nice location to see both the Great Salt Lake and SLC. People have complained of tight spots- but there is plenty of room to get into your spot. We stayed in an executive site and it is huge - plenty of room for our 39 foot RV plus the truck plus a large patio area. It is true that our picnic table was close to our neighbors sewer line though. There are several parking spots around the interior perimeter of the park. The dog “park” is tiny -and the playground is small. We had a lot of trouble getting good wifi. The Wifi here is only good enough for email and such. Even with our cellular modem and mimo antenna we still got lousy wifi. Don’t plan a lot of streaming or zooming. We had several packages delivered and they were put with other packages in the large common room for us to pick up whenever- no checking that we picked up the ones meant for us. Nice walking or biking trail right next to the park.

Full services, reasonable WiFi speeds. Close to the freeway.
The gate code works only once every 7 or 8 try's. We were stuck outside for nearly 20 minutes trying to punch in our code.

We’ve stayed at Sun RV Resorts before and have never run into this kind of poor customer service, or such an angry manager. We have over 30 campsite reservations for our three-month road trip and NONE have had any problems like this at Pony Express.
We would not recommend Pony Express RV Resort to anyone.

We had a premium site, the deluxe are longer, although I saw 40’ in the back-ins. Plenty of extra parking throughout the park. Gated security & friendly personnel upon arrival. (Cookies & dog treats) A big plus is the free dog washing station. The reasons this is not a 5 star: sites are a little narrow, some of the grassy sites are grass and weeds combined. No hot tub, no gym.
Rate reflects veterans discount. (Veterans, not just active duty)

Let me just tell you that I rarely ever take the time to write reviews because I have a full time job and juggle two additional part time jobs, thus, I pretty much never write a lengthy review for anyone or anything, but I had to take the time to laud Pony Express RV Park, its manager Ruben Zak, and his wonderful team. Even my kids, after a 3 week long road trip to 5 different national parks and a plethora of venues visited and outdoor activities experienced, listed their experience at Pony Express as their #1 best memory.
Why am I writing such a rave review for an RV park? First of all, the entire staff is the friendliest, kindest, and most compassionate staff we have ever encountered at any form of lodging (RV resort, campground, hotel, inn, etc.) out of all of our travels. Before we even arrived, we had to adjust our schedule due to some hiccups in our plans and (simply over the phone) the staff did their best to accommodate us. When we arrived, the receptionists were very smiley, friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The entire park looked well kept, clean (especially the restrooms and showers compared to other RV parks), and well-run. No matter where you are placed, you are always within reasonable distance to a restroom/shower building. The pool area is clean; the tables, umbrellas, and chairs are all kept in good condition; the laundry room is literally the best we've ever seen (the best kept machines, the cleanest room, the most surfaces to fold clothes, has a coin machine that is well stocked, and has a detergent/dryer sheet machine for the users that forget to bring their own). The pool and laundry room are immediately next to several indoor bathrooms and showers and are very roomy and well-kept. The clubhouse has a really nice pool table and foosball table, plenty of comfortable seating, a big screen TV, books, games, puzzles, and a really nice common kitchen area for guests to use. They even have a great outdoor playground for the kids. Up to this point alone, we would have enthusiastically given Pony Express 5 stars. It was easily the best kept resort we have ever been to.
The few reviewers that complained about the proximity of the RV sites to each neighbor need to understand that this is an RV resort in Salt Lake CITY, so the layout is meant to be maximized. That being said, the sites are NOT that crammed together as some reviews might give the impression about, and they are well maintained. In regards to the few who did not like the customer service, I simply cannot imagine who on the staff would not offer great customer service. Honestly, I could see them being a little removed if the customer comes across first as brusque, rude, or entitled, but I cannot imagine anything less than great customer service from the staff if you are just basically courteous at first.
ON TOP OF EVERYTHING, we were juggling with some serious RV issues, and not only did Ruben have his staff help us out with no strings attached, but he went above and beyond to help us with alternative lodging that was amazing as we dealt with our misfortunes. We are very sensitive to imposing on other people and really try not to be an inconvenience to anyone, but the ENTIRE STAFF went out of their way to make us feel cared for. To emphasize this point, we got to know so many of them and are now blessed to call them friends. Shout out to Ruben, Christine, Ric, Suzie, Patricia, Barry, Jen, Emily, and Jimbo for your grace and kindness. To the rest of the staff that we did not have the pleasure to get to know personally, thank you for making this RV resort an awesome place to stay!
Now, if you are traveling and simply need lodging, not an RV site, their chalets are REALLY NICE! They have two bedrooms, a bathroom, a full kitchen, and a living room with great central AC . . . all for a VERY reasonable price. I cannot praise this place enough and I know our family will always remember our stay there. Please, do yourself a favor and take some time to stay here if you are passing anywhere through Salt Lake City. I sincerely believe you will have a GREAT time here however long your stay. We even met several long-term guests on site (we're talking many months up to a couple of years), and ALL of them were very happy with their time at Pony Express RV Park. YOU WILL BE, TOO!
