We were here the week before the July 4th weekend and the park was full of active families with lots of kids. They all seemed to spend the day in or around the lakes, where there is plenty to do. The sites are about 40 feet apart, and where we were, all the sites backed up to natural habitat. They are also very long and can accommodate almost any size setup. We went to visit the Grand Coulee Dam Visitor Center and found it very interesting and nicely done. Would have loved to see the nightly light show but it didn't start till 10 p.m. and then you have about a 30 minute drive back to the campground...a bit much for us early to bedders. If you decide to take the road to Dry Falls Lake, heed the warning: Rough Road; it's no joke. People with bad backs beware. The road to Deep Lake is nicely paved the whole way and has nice restrooms and picnic tables and is a quieter place for people who may want to paddle board or fish or do some less rowdy water activity. It was nice to have electricity for the AC since it was quite warm and there are some pesky mosquitoes. No internet service.

We stayed in the upper loop in a back in site, there was a pull thru next to us that would have been nice, but there was plenty of room where we were. I highly recommend the upper loop, very pretty and private sites. There was a small walk up diner on site as well as golf and a beach. Plenty of places to ride our ebikes around the park. We did do a day trip to Coulee Dam which was not far. It really is quiet and peaceful campground in a beautiful setting. The only negative was no internet/cell service most of the time. We did go up to the visitor center where reception was better a few times.

As others have said, depending on the time of the year you are coming will change you experience, but the views are some of the best out there for sure. We went this past year conveniently on the hottest weekend of the year (120 degrees) and it was almost too much to be out without being right on top of some water and shade. Our RV spot was pretty big and caters to some bigger sites for bigger rigs. The tent sites at the front of the state park and seem to be stacked fairly close together. There looked to be a lot of great trails to see, but it was just too hot. We filmed a couple of Youtube videos here including a FULL site by site campground review. - Unique Adventurez

Arrived 8 October. First come first served after 15 Sept. Nobody at the gate, so we found our way to the upper campground near Vic Myers Lake. There are 31 full service sites up here arranged in two loops with a central washroom. It is beautiful! Less than half the sites filled and the park host said they did not fill up any night after reservations shut down. But the lower campground near Park Lake is pretty much a gravel lot with a large grass area inside. Mostly no services there, although there are some FS back in sites. Looks like a popular summer park near the lake, while the upper loops are more sedate. There are flies and no-see-ums, so bring a swatter. The wind picked up this morning, and we read that it can get windy, but the last two days were calm. Also, water gets shut off at the sites Monday 11 October. Finally, the park is changing the site numbering, so the numbers no longer corresponded to our map. Now about the coulee. It's spectacular! The visitor center on top of the cliffs above the park has a load of geological info. This is a "don't miss" park, but we will be sure to visit in the cool early October season when we return.

This is a geologically amazing part of the country you won't regret visiting if you like high desert. The campground (reserved online far in advance) is accessed after driving past/through a private campground and golf course that seems utterly of place in these rocky, dry coulees. Upon arrival at 4 pm, no one in guard office, sign saying they'd return at 530 pm. Really? In a Class B, with your campsite a good mile down the road from that office in high desert temps and full sun, you have no option but to wait to hook up. Moved from shadeless site next to someone's trailer dog pen to one on edge of park with view of coulee. Folks next door had every outdoor toy known to man and used them all (typical of most this park's visitors except us) but quieted down after dinner. Sites a little too close for being in such a remote place, but the moon over the coulee was lovely and we slept well, Coin op showers were serviceable. $63 is ridiculous.

With the extra time available on a holiday weekend, we decided to make the trek from the Puget Sound area. One word of caution for folks coming from that area...add 90 minutes to whatever Google Maps gives you for a travel time.
However, it was worth the drive. This is a beautiful area sitting in a canyon, with multiple lakes along the valley floor. Swimming, boating, fishing and golf all can be done at the park, which also has a foot trail system. Be sure to check out the Dry Falls visitors center for information on the interesting geologic history of the area.
As for the campground itself...location, location, location. The lower area is closer to the main lake, (walking distance), but the sites are rather close together, with more of a party atmosphere feel. Upper sites are newer, quieter and more private.
Cell service is spotty at best. My son's T-Mobile phone served as an $800 paperweight. Voice and text were somewhat possible with Verizon, but no data.

We chose this facility for a short shakedown trip after commissioning our motorhome for spring (mid-March). We had the place almost to ourselves - our only neighbors were two pickup campers and a single tent camp in this very large campground. Signs were posted at the entrance saying the water was turned off at campsites, for the winter but we found ours was on. Staff was working to prepare for the season and we suspect that it was just turned on. Our site had 15/30/50 amp power and sewer, all in excellent condition. Gravel pad was fairly level, but we did have to block the left rear tires up two inches.
This is a very interesting area geologically, and we enjoyed a number of wonderful walks. We imagine this would be a wonderful campground for families in the summer, with lakes for swimming and fishing, a very nice playground, a 9 hole golf course and the Sun Lakes Park Resort just up the road which is a private concessionaire. We had a relaxing, very quiet stay, but believe it could be crazy busy here during the summer.

The lakes were great. We went to Deep Lake which parking was very packed, but had great cliff jumping. The park rangers were friendly and kept the park very clean. However, we had to put the tent on gravel, it was very hot with mediocre shade, and was not private at all. You’re right next to the next site.
