“Gate was closed, could not access”
Reviewed 9/22/2023
Gate was closed, could not access this site.
There was a big parking lot right next to the road that you could probably stay at, but then you might as well go to the rest area a few miles up.
Really confusing and frustrating.

This was a great place to stop and spend the night so we could visit Glacier National Park. Going-to-the Sun Road was closed at Logan Pass so we had to visit the Apgar area, then drive around the south side of the park to see the St. Mary side. This campsite was close enough for us to drive up to the Many Glaciers area and work our way south to see the St. Mary and Two Medicine areas.
We were here in early June and the wind and rain did its best rendition of a monsoon. Between that and the trains, our nights were filled with noise.
The mud made getting out of the campsite a four-wheel drive adventure.
This site was pretty with mountain views, backed up to a forest and a small creek.
Walski would stay here again

We did not stay here.
The site is right on the highway through a gate. It’s a large parking area with a pit toilet. If you are looking for a free site, the rest stop would be a better option just down the road (it’s a bit further off the highway and newer pit toilets).
