From Highway 98 just east of Eastpoint, turn north on Hwy 65 and travel 24.7 miles north to Forest Road 22, in downtown Sumatra. Turn right (the paved road crosses a RR track then becomes red dirt) and travel 5.6 miles. Turn right onto Cut-Thru Road and travel 0.7 miles. Turn left on Nero Rd and travel just under 4 miles. Turn left (the only option) at the red post for Sumatra Campsite and go 1 mile to the campsite post at the end - the campsite will be on the right.
Another option for getting to the campsite through the forest vs. the highway is to start at the Gully Branch Day Use Area (see directions for Gully Branch Campsite #11) in the center of the forest and continue west on Gully Branch Road for 5.5 miles. Turn north (right) at North Road (the road to the Boundary Road Campsite #18) and continue for 2 miles to Whiskey George Road. Turn left (west) and go 1.4 miles to Tucker Road. Turn right (north) and go 1.3 miles to Sumatra Road. Then left (west) on Sumatra for 2.4 miles to Cut-Thru Road. Turn right (north) for 1 mile to Nero Road and follow directions above.
