“This seems to have become a day use site only”
Sulphide Del Rey is about a 12 mile drive out of Miami. About half of it is a pretty decent but somewhat washboard dirt road. It is the first area you get to where there is pine forest. It is quite a nice location but it has no spots for parking even small sized camp units. The possible pads are all blocked off by large boulder borders. What appear to be former dirt RV pads can only be used for tent camping because of the boulder placements. That said, the site sign board says this site is open from 6 am to 10 pm. Looks to me like the info on the forest website is out of date. You might want to check with the Tonto Rangers before attempting to camp here. We did not stay more than an hour or so and moved on to Pinal Mountain Campground which is another 5 miles down the road and 1500' higher in elevation.
