Of all the campgrounds within the Cascade Lake State Park system, this is one of our favorites for the sites overlooking the lake and the easy in and out access. We've only stayed during Memorial Day weekend holidays and mosquitos aren't an issue, but damsel flies are thick in the evening. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. Restrooms are clean. It's a busy park on holidays so, not for those who prefer remote camping. There are no hookups, so it's dry camping all the way so plan

This is the Sugarloaf Unit at Lake Cascade in west central Idaho. We stayed here for the Eclipse in August of 2017. It's approx. 2 miles off the main road and we found it to be very peaceful and quiet. You will be boon docking with your trailer if you have one. There are vault toilets and they are kept up everyday by the parks department. There are no showers, so be aware of that. Water spigots are within the campsite area if you want to fill your trailer there. The area is surrounded by pine trees, sage brush and the lake. There are several hiking trails throughout the area, mainly through the sage brush. The campsites are spread out so you will have a bit privacy which is nice. You are within walking distance of the lake. We did not go in the water, but did see some water skiers out there. We did see some reviews where people said that they got swimmers itch in the lake. Not sure about that but you can do research if needed. This is a must! Bring mosquito spray. They love to come out for a couple of hours around sunset and there were a lot of them! Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay here and we'd come back. We loved the views, the peacefulness and found other campers very respectful and friendly.
