The sunsets went on forever and seemed never ending. It was easy to get in and out of the campground, plus it was not a far drive (20minutes) to arrive at Philipsburg. We found a much needed car wash and laundry mat, plus the most awesome candy store in Philipsburg!

Good pull thru and back in sites right on the water but I actually preferred my site at the end of the loop, site #16. There is a short trail right behind the site to walk your dog. We didn't have the best weather as it rained for 2 days and it even snowed at some of the higher areas around us (July). Additionally, some crazy small black bugs were hatching and they could get in thru the screen, but overall a great campground.

This is a great Dept of Fish and Wildlife campground right on the shores of Georgetown Lake. It is equidistant between the cute old mining town of Philipsburg and the not so cute old mining town of Anaconda.
Some of the spots are right on the water and if you can get one you will want to stay for the maximum stay limit (7 days) like we did. Our site was a huge pull through, some of the others are back in.
There are pit toilets here, nothing else in the way of facilities - no trash - you'll need to pack it out. No dump, but the gas station near Albertsons in Anaconda has a free dump station.
The Verizon and AT&T signal was great. Philipsburg has a laundromat and a great little brewery. Anaconda has some grungy grocery stores and many, many dive bars, but a decent coffee shop.

Fantastic spot especially after surviving a busy weekend at nearby Piney CG. There are several spots that front the water as well as some pull throughs at the end that overlook and are isolated. We stayed at the very last spot on the end and probably would pick that one again. Our spot didn't sit on the water but it was right there and we had a little more isolation. There are a couple of small loops (4 sites) that are a little tighter packed but overall good separation between sites.
There is no trash and no water available.
Verizon 4G is fast.
You will get some occasional noise from the highway but it's not a busy road.
Oh you can ignore the published length limit as well, we could have put two of our rig (40') in many of the spots.

Wow! An amazing lakeside campground surrounded by gorgeous views and big skies. This is an out in the middle of nowhere kind of place with nothing but a tiny marina store a few miles away for supplies. But if you are well stocked with plenty of food, firewood and water you can stay out here listening to the water lap at the shore and the wind rustle in the trees forever.
The weather was hot and dry during our stay, but since our site was right on the water we stayed cool from the pleasant breeze coming off the lake. The sites are wide open with very few trees, but each site is a good distance apart and facing the water so privacy is not an issue. This was one of our favorite Montana campgrounds and next time we'll be sure to bring some sort of watercraft for enjoying the lake.
