Strawberry Flats Campground

Out of 15 sites at both Strawberry flats & Macdonald campgrounds you can now reserve 5 sites at each location. New for 2023. The 5 sites reservable at both are the best ones on the lakeshore. Otherwise the other 10 at each are first come first serve still and fill quickly each day. Clean and great location on Muncho Lake. Water pump comes from the lake and has a boil notice. Still 20 Cdn and the rangers come around in the mornings and evenings to collect. No service Verizon or T-Mobile.

We arrived around noon and had several lakeside sites to choose from. All the waterfront sites, probably 10 sites, had direct access to the water. We selected site 15, which was great being on the end and having lots of lake access, but it was also where the turnaround was. This campground filled up each day by 3:30, so there were a lot of people driving through looking for a site late into the night. Most campers only stayed for one night and were out early the next morning. There is overflow camping at the entrance. An employee comes around several times a day to collect camping fees. Pit toilets were clean, trash and recycling were picked up daily, bear boxes provided.

The lake is gorgeous and perfect for kayaking. We also did the hike that begins across the highway. It crosses the creek and leads you to an old section of the highway. We also took the side hike to a high point for an amazing view of the lake below.

We loved our lakeside campsite, but there was the highway noise. The speed limit is lower in this section, but it could still be heard.
