The weather was sunny and warm when we arrived and blanketed with snow when we left :) There isn’t the cattle fence anymore at the entrance; just drive over the cattle guard. We turned left as turning right was crowded the whole time we camped. Loved the easy access to the Park. The wind was pretty intense for at least 24 hours and then we got a snow storm. We’ll be back. It is a worthwhile experience.

Stunning views, easy to find boondocking. We had great weather in late 9/2020 but heard you have to be careful if lots of rain.

The north entrance will get you there but will take you a bit longer and is rougher. Lots of campers there (was Saturday night of Labor Day weekend) but we experienced no drawbacks to that. Awesome views of The Badlands and The Milky Way. This spot is only about a 5 minute drive from the north entrance to the national park.

Absolutely no complaints, views spectacular, big horn sheep everywhere. Please be advised not to stay if high winds are forecasted as there is no cover.

Without wind, it was buggy, but that was the only downside. I wouldn’t attempt the road coming in if it’s been raining recently — it would be no fun in the mud — but totally doable when dry. Plenty of room and super convenient to the Badlands.

Great place to stay. Use upper entrance by towers on left as coming from Wall. Could be slick in rain but not bad dry. Lots of big rigs have made it. Lower entrance is longer and muddier. Look out for small signs in tires marking end of moterized access.

There were a ton of campers on a Saturday night when we rolled in but still plenty of room...even right on the edge where we pulled up with our van and trailer. The views are incredible and the stars at night are gorgeous!

THIS AREA IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED TILL JULY 9TH OR 10TH 2018
Camped in this area, it is beautiful. District Ranger came by and said that they have been having lots of trouble with people not closing the gate. This lead to cows getting out on the busy road (HWY 240) multiple times. Due to the safety issue, they were closing the area.
The ranger was super nice and indicated that this was a popular area that needed some study by the forest service.
Too bad that thoughtless campers have closed this area as it is so nice and very close to the badlands
