Not many options for campgrounds in the area. On Friday night, there was a band playing at the brewery nearby, it was pretty loud. Weekends are a little noisy, weekdays, very peaceful.
Decent AT&T cells service, 4 bars of 4G. Streaming was sporadic, but with the WeBoost had no issues streaming.

Pretty location. Our first site was close to the highway so we had that noise. Spacious sites for a KOA. We moved to the newer part after two nights and the site was nice. Only negative was with our check in. We arrived 13 minutes before the official check in time. The woman who checked us in said it would be $25 for early check in. We said we’d wait 13 minutes, not because we don’t have $25 but it just seemed silly considering the spot was ready. The staff that were leading people to their sites told her that they needed to keep people moving (there was a line) so we were taken to our spot shortly after without a fee.
Also, not a huge deal, but the laundry price is posted as $2.75. If you change the setting to medium or high dirt level, the price goes up. Again, not about the money, but when you have to have enough quarters to do your laundry, it matters. Knowing that ahead of time would have been helpful.
$5 dog fee doesn’t make sense.

This KOA Campground is located on the West side of Steamboat Springs. It sits adjacent to the Yampa River. There are sites situated along the river. Our site was situated just across from the river sites and had large shade trees with water and electric. There didn't seem to be a path to sit along the river without walking through a fellow campers site. The KOA is located just off the highway so there was traffic noise. Check in was quick and easy as there is an abundance of staff. It had common area activities including swimming, playground and mini golf. The Free Steamboat Springs City Bus service has a stop within the KOA facility which enabled us to travel into the city with our Class B.

Stopped by this KOA as we were passing through Steamboat Springs to dump our tanks, fill our water tank, empty trash, & take showers. $20 for a day pass!
Campground looks nice and the amenities we used were very accommodating.
Would recommend this campground for stay or to dump your tanks!

They had nice concrete pads, patios, and fire rings. I am sure it is great in the summer.

Stayed here while skiing at Steamboat. Had a back in site on the river. Site was moderately plowed out but given the amount of snow, it was acceptable. Area was very quiet. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Appreciated the free bus to town and the mountain. Would Definitely stay here again

We loved our stay at the Steamboat KOA this past summer. The folks there are exceptional and really go out of their way to make sure your stay is pleasant. Our pup, Sammi, has never felt so much love. If you're bringing the kids they will love all the activities like mini golf, playground, and pool. They offer RV and tent camping sites, as well as cabin rentals. Amenities include on-site river fishing, a fully stocked camp store, mini golf, a great playground, and a pool. The town shuttle stops inside the campground for easy access to downtown Steamboat. The KOA is also close to the Steamboat Ski Resort and other outdoor activities such as hiking, fly fishing, biking, and tubing.
Tips:
* When booking your RV site choose one of the 90's or 100's spots - across the bridge on the island
* Dogs are well-loved at this campground so bring them along!
* Use the shuttle to go into town to avoid parking! It's easy to catch and comes into the campground often. Steamboat Springs is very walkable.
* Visit the Snow Bowl Steamboat (practically next door) to go bowling, enjoy happy hour, grab dinner, or listen to live music
* Don't forget the bug spray in the warmer months!
* The older back-in sites are close to the road. Opt for one of the new pull-through patio sites and you will have a fantastic stay with incredible views! Refer to the map when booking.

You pay top dollar to park on what equates to a half-dead lawn. i have water, but i needed over 50 feet of hose to reach the faucet that im sharing with three sites. pet fee $5/pet per day. very small sites and very smokey from campfires. nothing good to say about the place but location.

The park itself is a fairly standard KOA - there are a fair amount of trees and shade but little ground vegetation and not much separation between sites. Gravel and patches of grass here and there. We had a back-in full hookup site - it was fairly tight. But what made up for the somewhat lackluster surroundings was:
- Friendly and efficient staff. It was a very quick check-in and setup.
- Right on the free bus line into town - in fact the covered stop is in the park itself. No need to drive into town.
- Actually decent WiFi with standard logon - not the web page/form based pain in the rear.
- Excellent cable TV - all stations available in HD, including Denver network affiliates.
- Year-round (like most KOAs). I add this because in Colorado, all NFS campgrounds shut down at the end of the season and this is the rare campground so close to a mountain ski town that is open in the winter. It is entirely feasible to use this as a ski camp in the winter and just rely in the STS bus service once you settle in. It is just 3 miles to old town. I don't know of an equivalent setup anywhere else in the state.
One negative is the early check-in/out fees - I bet they make a bundle of $25 fees for check-in before 2pm or check-out after 11am. Priced exactly at the point where you grumble but pay it.

“Absolute Worst!”
noted 7/3/2022
They were confused...awful staff. The general manager, Bob, was arrogant and entirely unprofessional. Had multiple reservations, tried to put us in a site we could not even use our slides, didn't honor the reservation we had in the first place, watched Bob make a lady cry...NEVER again and I do not suggest for anyone else! P.S We are from Steamboat and watched this place go to crap in a big hurry.
