This is a beautiful campsite with great views. It’s also very close to hiking trails. Shade and clean vault toilets which is a plus! I will definitely stay again. I didn’t see a way to pay, but we did pay for the hiking permits. Dirt road can be a little rough. Had one bar with cricket.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night on our way south from UT to AZ. We arrived around 8pm and there was only 1 other campsite taken. The spaces were quite generous and as far as I could tell, each had a designated covered picnic table, parking spot, and flattened spot for a tent. And that's what we had. Pit toilets were surprisingly not bad at all! Great open spaces for star and meteor shower gazing. No complaints at all, only accolades!
One thing though... getting to the campsite would be hard on non-4WD or non-AWD vehicles. You can access it from the north (UT) or south (AZ). The road from UT has a ditch which may be filled with water/mud that could be troublesome for a small car or something large since you need to get some speed to get through it -- and it is inconveniently located around a corner (which could make it hard to get enough speed). We had a AWD SUV and it was a splash of mud that covered the entire vehicle. But we got through it.
The road from AZ is longer, but doesn't have any ditches or water obstacles. However, both the UT and AZ road are dirt road with some significant potholes and large rocks, so be prepared.
All in all, we loved this quiet place.

Located at the AZ-UT state line along House Rock Valley Road. The road is rough in spots but passable by 2WD. However, after rain or snow it would likely not be passable. Located at the AZ-UT state line along House Rock Valley Road. The road is rough in spots but passable by 2WD. However, after rain or snow it would likely not be passable. A sign at the turn-off for the CG says no trailers longer than 21 ft, and a sign near the turn-around loop says no RV/trailer parking in the turn-around loop. We saw one person with a short (22ft?) camper get stuck in the turn-around, scraping his trailer against the tree in the middle and bending off his stabilizers trying to get around, so exercise caution. The same person parked his camper and then played loud music through the evening, not a very good neighbor. There is a small corral with space for a horse trailer. There are 8-10 sites, each with a table and sun shelter and a fire ring. Not sure if every site is appropriate for a tent. There's no water. Two vault toilets that were reasonably clean. Both nights we were there the CG just about filled up in the evening, but emptied out quickly in the morning. The Arizona Trail ends here and so it's nice to walk a few miles out of the campground, though the area that the trail runs through was recently burned. Limited cell signal, sometimes just enough for a text to blip through on Verizon. Overall really liked the campground.

We stayed here to hike Wire Pass and The Wave. The campground is also the beginning of the Arizona Trail. The 10 mile dirt road to get here is rough but passable. It just takes a long time to drive it. We were here the night of June 10th and the campground was only half full.

We won the wave lottery & were told about this free campsite by the BLM volunteer. It is about 30minutes down a dirt road, that is apparently good in dry weather but impassable in rain or snow. The campsite itself is amazing. Vault toilets & every site has a covered picnic table & a fire pit.

Very nice facilities considering the remoteness, with fire rings, BBQs, and shade structures...but it was cold so we stayed inside! Overall the road was good, however there was one wash that I would not have wanted to attempt without 4WD. We were lucky enough to draw a permit to hike to The Wave. It was absolutely incredible, see it if you get the chance!

Beautiful campground on the Arizona/Utah state line. Located on House Rock Valley Road 1.3 miles south of Wire Pass and the Wave trailheads. The road is gravel and rough, but easily passable without 4 wheel drive when it is dry. Signs say impassable when wet. Most campsites are back in and each has a really nice picnic table, pavilion and fire ring. Limited number of sites (approx. 12) so show up early during the busy season. Pit toilets. No Verizon service in the area.
