State Fair of West Virginia Campground

The only thing that made this better than a Walmart parking lot was the full hookups. And Walmart probably would have been quieter. There is a school adjacent to the campground. We were there on a Friday night when there was a home football game. There were random teenagers roaming around the campground most of the night. The next morning we woke up literally surrounded. There was a cross country meet and the organizes routed the running path right through our campsite. Hundreds of screaming kids running in front of our camper, making a loop through the woods, and returning behind our camper. Not to mention the parents lining the route to cheer. They were so close that I saw one run BETWEEN our truck and 5th wheel. If the high school is going to utilize the land then the campground should make campers aware or close the parts that will be used. We were planning to stay 2 nights and explore the area but we immediately packed (in front of a crowd) and left. What a terrible experience.

It’s pretty much a grass parking lot with full hook ups. It was perfect for exploring the area. We were able to walk and ride our bikes in the huge grassy area behind the south RV lot where we parked. Parking was a little challenging because the parking Spot numbers are written on the electric pedestal but have worn almost off. I happened to have had a black marker so I re-wrote the two pedestals close to me. You’re welcome :)
