“Ok spot for the night”

There are actually 3 loops that make up different campgrounds here. The first two are both near the entrance (right off 101), and the 3rd is down a steep drive and across the river. Unfortunately this 3rd loop was closed because there is no longer a bridge over the river to get to it. At the time we were there (August 2021), there was no sign that a new bridge was going in any time soon. The proximity to 101 made for some loud road noise at night, and the river at this time of year is low, warm, and very scummy as a result (not a pleasant place to swim). The sites themselves were nice however, with good tree cover and lots of space between them for privacy from your neighbors. Bathrooms and showers were clean and working. Plenty of fresh water spigots throughout the campground, some of them threaded so you can attach a hose and fill your RV water tank. Not a ton to do immediately in camp, but if you feel like wading across the river, the redwoods on the other side make for a pretty hike. Overall, it’s ok for a night or two, but I don’t think we will go back unless we are stuck last minute. Would be much better if the bridge goes in and the 3rd campground opens up again (way less road noise down there).

Stayed one night on our way up to Oregon coast. CA state parks are expensive for no hookups but showers were available unlike Oregon SPs. Nice setting in trees on a bluff above the river but right next to 101 trucks. Coffee/bar/gent store across the highway. Facilities were clean and in good shape.
