It was early spring so we had the park almost entirely to ourselves. The sites were widely spaced and surrounded by a hardwood forest. The facilities were tired but clean. Considered changing our route home in order to stay here again.

The bathhouse is renovated with heat and a/c and a laundry facility, which was appreciated in the summer heat and humidity. Many sites were not very level and required a walk to the bathhouse up a steep slope. Site 4 was quite level and close with lots of open space.

Burgess Falls State Park is about an hour drive but well worth it. Very nice lake, rustic cabins, and Standing Stone SP is home to the Super Bowl of Marbles every September.

Tennessee does is right when it comes to state parks. Not only are they open year round, but they have nicely wooded sites, free hot showers, great trails, and friendly and helpful staff. We spent a few nights here on a crisp fall week at the end of October. Enjoyed the trails, admired the cabins, and kayaked around the small lake. They also have a really nice looking pool, but it was closed for the season and too cold to swim anyway.
One thing to keep in mind is that while the sites here are generous is size, the campground loop road is kind of tight with lots of trees which could be a problem for bigger RVs.
