We are car campers with a tent that attaches to our SUV. Are there sites that would work for us?

We stop here 2x a year when we are heading to the Keys. It quickly became one of our favorite places. It's small and quaint! Very clean, serene, and peaceful. The hosts are wonderful. This year, we were there the week before Christmas and the week after. We were in RV1, which is right on the water. There were some boats in the slips, and they were all decorated for Christmas! It looked beautiful! We have had the pleasure of staying in RV1, 2, 3 (all on the water), and we stayed in RV9, which isn't on the water, but still an amazing site! You can still see the water, and it also has more privacy with a woodsy feel! You can't go wrong with any of these sites. They are all spacious and easy to get into. There's a little museum that was pretty cool, too! We have xfinity for our cell service, and we all had 4 bars 5g. We also got a lot of local TV stations with our antenna. Highly recommend!

This is a difficult campground to get into during the winter months, but definitely worth it! Right next to the St Lucie Canal just above the St Lucie Lock. RV sites are concrete pads, 50/30 Amp, water with a dump near exit.
Tent sites are right next to water with parking across road. Boat slips have power and water as well.
Pros:
Wildlife watching (Cranes, Egrets, Osprey, Alligators, Lizards, Turtles, Rabbits, Jumping Mullets, etc);
Clean park (I watched a camp host scrub down the picnic tables with soap and water between guests);
Price (especially with America The Beautiful pass discount);
proximity to stores and restaurants;
boat watching (there’s some big ones);
watching the lock operate (there’s plenty of observation space);
walking trails
Cons:
Some bugs around sunset;
dump is located right at the exit blocking traffic (at least there isn’t much traffic);
hard to get a reservation during winter

Beautiful small COE park with 9 rv sites, and 3 tent site. Sites 1,2,and 3 are on the water. Very clean and well maintained. Also 6 boat slips available. Right on the canal so you can watch the boats go thru the locks.

Well no need to add much beyond what all the other reviews said. This was our first stay at a USACOE campground and we've certainly been spoiled. What a beautiful place. RV pads are impressively level and each space's front yard is well-manicured and friendly. Staying right in front of the river was wonderful, the view is unbeatable, and the manatees in the water were just fantastic. Mosquitoes definitely came out once the sun started to set but they're no match for our front door 😉. Would love to stay here again — hopefully for much longer!
The loop at the end of the campground and maneuvering was absolutely no issue for our 30' DP (toad off) but would likely be challenging for folks in a 45'.
Cell coverage was good enough for typical internet browsing. If you have a cell booster you'll have no issues.

I would stay here again, but wear a mosquito net. It was $20/night with no amenities. It felt quite safe. Two bars on Verizon.

Great concrete pads with space in between. 50 amp + water & dump station. There are also boat slips available with water and electric. The lock viewing area and little island across from the lock were all gated off due to Covid apparently which was a disappointment. The visitor center was also closed. Even the loaner life jackets were removed because the risk of Covid was apparently greater than the risk of drowning.
The location is still wonderful though and the campground is really quite beautiful. We had hoped to go to Manatee Lagoon (where a power plant's warm outflow attracts many manatees) while we were here, but it was closed due to Covid. That led to a very fun adventure that we hadn't known about that isn't too far away from the CG - Peanut Island. There is a little ferry that takes you to a man-made island with snorkeling reefs and lagoon, a walking trail, tent campsites, etc. It is VERY dog friendly, including the ferry. We even saw 2 manatees while we were there.

Well maintained small campground (9 RV sites; some on the water) with water and electric. Dump station on site. Clean restrooms with warm shower. Well maintained grounds. It’s right next to the St. Lucie locks; interesting to watch the boats go through. Loved it!

Small (9 RV sites), quiet, well maintained. Electric and water at each RV site. Covered table, grill and fire ring at each site, both RV and tent. Hot water showers. Dump station. Three of the sites (1, 2 and 3) are right on the edge of the canal. Less than 30 minutes to ocean beaches. It's only a couple of miles from I95.

This might be the most scenic and clean campground we’ve stayed right on the water, site 2! Sort of next to big sailboats and cruisers on the water.
My husband fished right off our site and great fishing!
Ortona South was full and reservation agent redirected us to St. Lucie and we hit the jackpot!
