There’s only one nature trail, but there’s a lot to see. If you’re into wildlife, you’ll find great bird watching, and make friends with turtles, snakes, gators, and armadillos. The bugs are pretty bad, but it’s a swamp so it’s expected.
It loses a star because the wifi it advertises is barely enough to open Google, and as someone who works remotely, it would have come in handy. Everything else is great!

Pros:
We felt safe as opposed to staying closer to the city. There is on site laundry at a reasonable price. It’s a 35 minute drive to the French quarter. Sites are nicely spaced. For families with kids, there are nice play grounds and a splash pad.
Cons:
There’s not much to the park. I wouldn’t consider this park “big rig friendly”. Our site was at least 10’ shorter than stated online and the hookups are behind all sites. So hanging over the back of the pad. If you have a long rig over 40’ most sites will fit you but you will need to park your tow vehicle in the grass. Although it appears that this is okay since there were many doing this. Again for big rigs, the drive lane and site drives are quite narrow. It will take some back and forth to get in. There are only two trails but the trailheads on one end are located behind someone’s site. So that could be awkward and intrusive. The trails can be really muddy! Most of the sites have the potential to be swampy. It is the swamp after all.
Site 14: playground directly behind
Site 3/5: trailhead behind
Site 18/19: trailhead behind
Site 2/34/36/38: potential to be really wet
Site 48: we liked! Raised and flat gravel picnic area
Site 3: very spacious, lots of grass

The spaces are well separated, lots of trees but being winter not much shade. Bathroom/showers are clean. There's a 10% veterans discount. All sites can handle big rigs. Not much to the park - lots of picnic sites and a couple of short trails into the swamp. Wifi is ok - sometimes better than other times. I got 3 bars of 5G.

Nice trails. Great for hiking, running or biking.
Playgrounds have large canopies over them and the splash pad was a big hit with the grandkids.
We used our Nat Park Senior card for discount camping.

There's plenty of space and vegetation between sites and the road/train noise was minimal. The ranger who checked us in was a delight and a wealth of information about NoLa.
Things to be aware of:
- Lots of standing water when it's rainy, which means plenty of insects (you're below sea level here after all)
- Some sites (401 being one of them) are tricky to back in to. You have to be very careful because when it's wet you are surrounded by mud and water. They also use wooden barriers at the back of the sites, which prevents from being able to get your wheels all the way to the back and hang your backside overhang further back for extra parking space.
- WiFi is provided but unsecure and slow
- If you're into docuseries, check out "The Pharmacist" on Netflix before coming here. You're right in the heart of where that all went down, which I found interesting.

Lots of critters scurrying about - mostly armadillos and possums, so keep an eye on your dogs if you have them. Mine were fighting at the door to get out and chase. Had to tip over two trash cans to let two stuck possums free, so don't forget to close the lids.
There's a trail for some light hiking that circles to the other end of the park at a picnicking area with pavilions.
I paid $12 (50% off) with the National Park pass but it's only accepted for residents of LA, MD, AR, and one other I can't remember.
The free park WiFi was so slow, it was unusable. Only reason I dock a star, because it's advertised, so full-timers who work remote like me target wifi places to save some data usage, but I had to use my hotspot to get anything done.
