Nice green grass, covered in trees, and decent space between campsites. It was a quick trip to the French Quarter area, however, you do drive thru a questionable area which you should be on guard. Park rangers were very helpful and we would recommend the park. Hubby had a morning walk on a trail and said it was very nice! I was able to hot spot my Verizon phone for internet.

It was hot and humid when we were here and it didn’t feel like there was a much of breeze throughout the park. And the mosquitos were pretty thick. But for the price, it was worth it due to the proximity to New Orleans. It’s a place I would return to if traveling through this area again.

Bathrooms were clean and spacious, showers had hot water, and there were 2 new washers/dryers available for campers to use for $1.75 each.
Friendly park staff and well maintained facilities. Only complaint would be that there were no lights in the campground at night, and there were several loud noises overnight (airboat, train, owls, etc.) Also, our first site (6) had electrical issues (20A did not work) so we had to move sites. Campground was not full so this was not a big issue.

The playground is by site 11, though it doesn’t show up on any maps. It’s nice, new and has a sunshade.
It look about 40 minutes to get into the touristy areas of NOLA. And about 30 minutes longer if you are trying to go during morning school drop off time. Avoid that time! It was about 1.5 hours from the big Plantations like Oak Alley and Laura.
Two washers and dryers, $1.75 each. Dryer gives you 60 minutes of time, which is very generous for that price. Showers were fine, especially since we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

The gate park employees were very helpful to accommodate us as we had to move the rig to the shop then return. It worked out perfectly. They did say that when they get lots of rain it can be a challenge as the sites were narrow however thankfully blacktop. Great trail loop where we saw several armadillos and possum. If you ever need mechanical help in the New Orleans area the folks at SOS Truck were very knowledgeable and friendly.

Quite park in wooded area. Sites are level. Sites are large enough for privacy until all the kids arrived for the Easter weekend. Dump station is on the wrong side so better used on arrival than departure. Over all a tired state park, no up to snuff with other LA state parks.

There’s only one nature trail, but there’s a lot to see. If you’re into wildlife, you’ll find great bird watching, and make friends with turtles, snakes, gators, and armadillos. The bugs are pretty bad, but it’s a swamp so it’s expected.
It loses a star because the wifi it advertises is barely enough to open Google, and as someone who works remotely, it would have come in handy. Everything else is great!

Pros:
We felt safe as opposed to staying closer to the city. There is on site laundry at a reasonable price. It’s a 35 minute drive to the French quarter. Sites are nicely spaced. For families with kids, there are nice play grounds and a splash pad.
Cons:
There’s not much to the park. I wouldn’t consider this park “big rig friendly”. Our site was at least 10’ shorter than stated online and the hookups are behind all sites. So hanging over the back of the pad. If you have a long rig over 40’ most sites will fit you but you will need to park your tow vehicle in the grass. Although it appears that this is okay since there were many doing this. Again for big rigs, the drive lane and site drives are quite narrow. It will take some back and forth to get in. There are only two trails but the trailheads on one end are located behind someone’s site. So that could be awkward and intrusive. The trails can be really muddy! Most of the sites have the potential to be swampy. It is the swamp after all.
Site 14: playground directly behind
Site 3/5: trailhead behind
Site 18/19: trailhead behind
Site 2/34/36/38: potential to be really wet
Site 48: we liked! Raised and flat gravel picnic area
Site 3: very spacious, lots of grass
