We got a nice spot on the water front. Very beautiful here. Drive was amazing for scenery but washboard road. Not in bad condition so we just took it slow. Some most of the other listed locations were far too small for a rig our size. Most sites now have gravel. Mosquitos are intense but expected waterfront this time of year.

Got here on a Friday and lucky enough to get one of the last few sites (#7) Had an awesome view of the lake, but the site (#6) directly across would be a good site to stay in next time. Very clean and well maintained campground. I would stay here again.

The road down to the campsite is a bit bumpy, just take it slow. Some sites are right on the water, gorgeous views! All back-in. Camp host is very friendly + helpful. Turnover rate seems to be pretty quick, lots of one nighters. Trails in the area and fishing in the lake if you’re licensed. Bring your bear spray! Oh, TONS of wind rolling thru this place. We didn’t get much of our “outside” stuff out so we didn’t lose it.

UPDATED: NO LONGER FREE. As of 2020 the Forest Service is charging $16/night. Campsites still aren't "finished" and are rough dirt. Taking away a star for site quality based on the unfinished feel of the camp and the new nightly fee.
The information for this camp available on the Forest Service website is outdated. I stayed here in July 2018 and camping was free but with the improvements made to the camp, I would expect fees may be charged in the future.
The camp does have designated sites with a single unit permitted at each site. The camp was remodeled and enlarged in early 2018 and now offers over a dozen campsites. All sites have a concrete table and basic fire ring along with a bear-proof storage box. Sites are large - mostly double wide back in sites that almost any RV could fit in. There are two pit toilets in camp, both new. There was a site reserved for a camp host and there was a camper parked there but I never saw anyone at that site. The sites directly backed up to the lake were taken but the newer sites in the trees were mostly available mid day on a Saturday in mid July 2018. Things were still a bit rough around the edges and the newer sites weren't 100% finished - I'm hoping the FS came through with some gravel to add to the parking areas. No garbage service and no drinking water.
It is a bit of a trek to get to the camp but worth it for a quiet and free camp so close to Yellowstone Park. The dirt road is in good condition and is mostly a two lane road. No boat ramp here but there is a ramp at the Lonesomehurst Camp which you'll pass on the way here.
