Spearfish City Campground

In town to see our son play baseball for the Spearfish Sasquatch (go catch a ballgame when you're in town!) and the Spearfish City Campground is a beautiful place to camp and glamp. Our full hookup site was near Spearfish Creek and its rushing waters. Sites are a bit tight so any slide outs will impede on neighboring sites. For the price though, with full hookups, this campground is worth it for a few nights. Walking distance to downtown Spearfish with its many shops and restaurants. The neighboring fish hatchery is free and has a lot of history to it.

More like a campground in a city park. Seeing some awesome reviews so I'm glad I found this place we didn't need any power hook up so they stuck our little teardrop in with the tents. Showers is a big plus we needed a place with that after coming back from Devils Tower and mount Rushmore. Place even has a cute little brook that runs through

We’ve stayed here before and came back. My husband rides in multiple cycling events here during the year. It is tight, sites are close together but have never had an issue. I used the shower house, clean and good pressure. Site 11 is right near the creek. We’ll be back for the next ride in Sept. Spearfish is a cute little town and the scenery is amazing. We booked months in advance and check in was fast and simple. Verizon is 2-3 bars. They have WiFi but you have to be very near the office to use it.

This is an awesome camp ground especially considering it's a city park. The grounds are immaculate, the facilities and great shape and clean, and it's within walking distance of downtown Spearfish. We selected this a place to recharge and reload between boondocking at Devil's Tower and the Badlands. It didn't disappoint. Next time we're passing through we'll stay here again.

The only disappointment was that there are no laundry facilities at the park. However there are two Laundromats close by.

Excellent city park with full hook-ups after dry camping... to catch up on laundry. Even though the sites are quite close together, it is very quiet. Spearfish is a really nice town and you are a short drive to many attractions. Be sure and drive Spearfish Canyon. There is a Wal-Mart in town but we preferred the Lueders Food Center grocery. Everyone we met were exceptionally nice.

We enjoyed our stay here so much! Yes, the campsites are quite close together but the campground is quiet and that never bothered us at all. This campground is close to so many fun things to do. We bounced around on multiple forest service roads and explored all over in the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming. We spent one day in Sturgis and climbed to the top of Bear Butte (that was hard). We bicycled into Spearfish and listened to live music in the park. We explored the DC Booth Fish Hatchery that adjoins the campground. We had a wonderful time. This campground is full of families with children and on Saturday night the campground put up a movie screen and showed a family movie. People came with their blankets and sat outside watching The Sand Lot. It was like back in 2019 when camping was fun for families and everyone else. The restrooms are very nice and clean. The WiFi is not great but it kind of works if you are up by the office. It was a terrific campground and we certainly would not hesitate to camp here again.
