Overview of Spavinaw Campground

Nestled on the western end of Spavinaw Lake below the spillway, the Spavinaw Area at Grand Lake State Park offers a quiet, beautiful setting. Clean turquoise water flows through a stream located below the lake's spillway. In the spring, the stream is lined with blooming Dogwood trees. Camping facilities include RV and tent sites that must be reserved online. There is a comfort station nearby with plenty of shaded picnic areas as well as one large, covered shelter for gatherings. Families with small children can especially enjoy this park for the shallow water in the swimming area.

Overall Rating

Located along a shallow, slow-flowing creek with rocky bottom. Some campsites have partial shade; no. 20 has none. Gravel pads are mostly level. Some have water and electricity. There is a dump station and dumpsters. Restrooms and showers are old but functional, though spartan. Quiet and mostly empty when we visited midweek but could be hectic when full; most sites are close together, no privacy, and some have tent sites right next to them with no demarcation.
