We met some friends here for the Christmas and New Year's holiday and had a wonderful time. Prior to making our reservation online we called ahead of time to get a list of sites that offered the deck. Because were trying to find two side by side. We ended up staying in Site 44 and our friends in Site 45. Our site had both 30 & 50 amp options with two water spouts. We absolutely LOVED our site! We have a 25' Minnie Winnie and a truck. Everything would have fit on the main drive as it was a 47' site. But we wanted our outdoor kitchen to be on the decked area so we pulled the trailer up some and parked off to the side. The deck was a must during our stay because it rained almost every day we were there. So we were able to sit under awning on the deck and stay dry. Our site felt very private because on one side was a wooded area and the other was our friends. The site had a large deck and then you walk down to the picnic table, fire ring, and tent pad area. There was a foot trail in between our two sites that walked down to the floating dock. The pavement or the trailer was level for the most part but did have to use a few leveling blocks.
Our ATT only had one bar at the site and sometimes none inside the trailer. But luckily the WIFI at the park worked great for us to get some work done on our laptop. But it did block any TV streaming. We were able to use our ATT hotspot streaming on the outdoor TV and sometimes inside. The park was pretty empty assuming due to rain and holidays but it was perfect. Great trails and just the relaxation we needed. The front gates lock at night but a code is provided. We had great takeout from Curtis Grocery about 15 minutes away. The closes big grocery store is in Leesville about 40 min. away. So get your groceries on the way in. The park staff was so nice. The showers were very well taken care of, with plenty of hot water and private dressing areas. Would definitely return!
gonenomad would stay here again

During the week (mid Jan), this park was empty and peaceful (only one other guest at the park). On the weekends, it's a zoo. It's a beautiful park, and there are several docks right down the hill from the RV sites. The docks are floating, so even when there was a pretty howling wind and large seas (it was like the ocean beach for two days), we weren't worried about the boat being tied up there.
The sites have an asphalt pad (which is terribly uneven), a tent site (for a tent or canopy), a wood deck (only the ones on the water side), electricity, water, a fire ring, and the aforementioned dock slip. There's a dump station on the way out. Everything is in very good shape except the road which has potholes large enough to hide a gator or two. There are trash cans every few sites, but unfortunately they are not animal-proof, and there are raccoons. On the weekend mornings on my way to the bathroom, I had to stop at each one and put the trash back in. TIP: if you're at a park with unsecured trash cans, please don't put your trash in them until morning.
The bathrooms are really nice. The showers are large with good pressure/temperature. On the weekends, they must have have cleaned them four times a day. They would get destroyed by kids; one time, my husband tells me the men's had mud on *everything* - the floor, the sinks, the walls, the stalls, but a couple hours later, it was clean again. The only bad thing is (at least in the women's), the toilets don't have the anchor nuts on them, so they rock back and forth when you sit down. I was always worried that the seal was going to break.
The lake was down a couple of feet, and the boat launch has a shallow slope, so it was one of the more difficult places for to launch the sailboat - we had to really push and pull to get it off the trailer. It's an interesting lake. If you don't know anything about Toledo Bend, I suggest you look into the charts before you launch. When it was built, they didn't clear any trees, and it's a minefield of hazards for even a shallow-draft boat. They have marked "roads" that are like shipping lanes but for small craft. We had never been on a lake like that before. The roads are well marked except when coming out of the bay with the boat ramp. You will need to take a right-turn out of the bay and go *between* the island and the point to catch the first of the markers. It gets very shallow for a couple dozen yards (we had maybe 6" under the keel) right at the narrowest part of the pass, so go slowly. I do not suggest sailing through that pass, but once on the road, depth is no problem, and we had some great sailing up/down the coast and across to TX.
There are several hiking trails, and a good number of them are actually concreted. The trail to the visitors' center is especially nice as you cross a lovely covered bridge/pier. They rent the facility out, and it would make a beautiful setting for a wedding or a family reunion.
There is also an OHV park on site which we had thought about trying out, but we ended up being too lazy to take the motorcycles out, so I cannot comment on it other than from what I saw, it looked like a fun ride.
AT&T had no cell coverage (not sure how you select "no coverage" versus "I didn't try it") at the RV sites, though we did get a little near the boat ramp, and out on the lake the signal was excellent.
The park wi-fi has a strong signal. As with most RV parks, it was slow, but the really annoying thing was the net nanny software they have running on the router. I can understand blocking porn, movie streaming services, and gaming sites for bandwidth reasons, but it also blocks sites like imgur and bbcnews.
