“Dry camping right on the lake”

Spent 2 nights here in June, 2020. This is probably best described as an area to camp rather than any sort of a traditional campground. Nonetheless, if you are into dry camping, this is a great spot to spend a few days. It is run by the State, so a vehicle entry fee is required as well as a small camping fee. There are two areas in which to camp here. The first is accessed by taking the first right at the entrance where the road leads to a large grassy area near the highway and a good way from the lake. The second area - where we camped - is located on a loop road which is the second right after leaving Highway 281. The outside of the loop has sites where you would position your rig parallel to the water right along side the lake bank. On the "inner" portion of the loop road, rigs can pull straight in or back into a large grassy camping area. Access is a breeze here, though the loop road was a bit bumpy. We camped along the bank where you are parking in the grass. Getting level was easy enough.
Not much in the way of amenities here, though there are a couple of covered picnic tables in 2 of the spots along the bank side. Pretty basic, no-hookup camping here. Camping along the bank should allow for good solar. Further into the area there is a boat ramp for access to the lake. Didn't notice if there is a bath house.
This site sits directly across the lake from North Point State Recreation Area, which was a former Corp of Engineers campground which is now run by the state. At the entrance there is a dump station and water fill station. We felt OK using those facilities since we had an annual vehicle pass for State Parks.
On the other side of Highway 281 is Randall Creek State Rec. Area, which was closed and undergoing some construction at the time we were there. I believe there is camping there as well. The Historic Fort Randall & Chapel is right across the highway and is certainly worth a look see.
