We had the most amazing stay at South Carrizo Creek. I believe we were the only people overnight within miles!

The drive is about 1/2 mile on a packed gravel & sand, slightly washboard track. It was not a bad drive, even with our 38' 5th wheel -- as long as you take it slow: 5 - 8 mph is about right, and for 1/2 mile it isn't a problem.

The main camp area would hold many, many big rigs -- maybe 15 - 25??? and there are tenting sites that follow the road back as far as you want to drive. Of course we were the only ones there!

Cell reception was "iffy" - sometimes 1 bar, sometimes no service. However, I have a Wilson Amplifier/Antenna and had 3 bars & was able to do remote computer service work with no problem.

We hiked up the ridge and around the immediate area. We saw the Border Patrol come through one day, and about three or four others come through ... but we were completely left alone. Now, if it had only been a New Moon so the stars would really shine. The Quarter Moon was so bright you had a Moon Shadow!

Huge flat parking area along both sides of trees.
Tenters can go farther down road for more privacy.
Nothing but stars and coyotes.
No road noise can be heard.
