“Off season tent spot”

Reviewed Oct 16, 2018

Overall Rating

As described by most other folks. I stayed in a campsite, and was one of few here but found it to be very clean, free showers, and lots of trails around. For 21 bucks I would do it again in a heartbeat.

“Busy state park with good location”

Reviewed Jul 30, 2018

Hi all. Overall good OR state park. We went at peak of summer so very busy. It is not a ‘get away from it all’ kind of place. Big groups, lots of kids, bikes, dogs. Favorite things about park: Trails to ocean. Location to other area attractions HOT water! Friendly neighbors The not so great: Sand spurs in doggy paws Only 1... more

“Large campground with access to miles of clean, beautiful dog-friendly beaches, plus both paved and nature trails. We had a great time, even in the rain!”

Reviewed Mar 27, 2018

Overall Rating

This is a huge campground (227 E/W, 60 tent, 27 yurts, plus group sites) and most of the traffic passes along a main two-way thoroughfare. Even early in the season, the traffic was near constant so pick a spot on the far side of the loops if you can. The sites are paved and level but relatively close together without much in the wa... more

Nice park that's close to all of Newport's sites. Even in the late season drive-up campers can only pay/reserve their site one night at a time as they take online reservations on all the loops. Sites we're pretty nice, though some lack privacy.l, bathrooms in good shape. The beach is fantastic and there are lots of trails through... more

“Great campground.”

Reviewed Oct 01, 2017

We camped at this campground for 5 days. It is a well kept park. The campground is about 1/3 to 1/2 mile from the beach and has several pave pathways to it. The showers are clean and the water is warm. The sites are level and the driveways are paved. There is a hospitality center near the entrance that has information about the area an... more

“Camping City on Central Coast”

Reviewed Aug 27, 2017

This is a huge campground and was intimidating at first. The sites are fairly close together and wide open with dried grass fields and scrubby pine trees. It was quieter at our site than we expected and there was natural foliage at the back of our site. There is a playground structure in the middle of the loop. The shower has dual cont... more

“Too crowded and noisy”

Reviewed Aug 05, 2017

Overall Rating

This wasn't one of our favorite state parks. It's in a great location and that was the part we did like, but what we didn't like is how crowded and noisy it is and how close the sites are together. We are used to having some sort of privacy at state parks, with trees and space, but this park was not like that. The sites are really clos... more

“Very nice for such a huge campground”

Reviewed Jul 22, 2017

We had a great, wooded site on the outer rim of the circle and it gave us a lot of privacy in such a large campground. I don't think we would have liked it as much if we had camped in one of the inner circle sites that are more open. We loved riding the bike trail to the south jetty, under the bridge, over to the aquarium, the marin... more
