Plus, it's always full and they don't take reservations so getting in is tough. However, I got here right after the 11:00 AM checkout time and found several sites open, even though the sign said, "Campground Full." The park ranger was here sorting through the reservation board and suggested I find an unoccupied spot and come back to see if no longer be had reserved it yet. I got lucky!

No water, no hookups, but beach access right from our site and killer sunsets every night. After weeks of cool, shady, forested sites it was really nice to have wide open sun. Only one bar of 3G on the phone, but 5 bars of 4G with the antenna and amplifier. We'll be back! Bathrooms have flush toilets with non-potable running water. $5/... more

This gorgeous no-hookups camprgound is first come, first served. It's wide open on a bluff, so great for solar, and also easy to find a spot for a larger rig. Some sites are pretty unlevel. I had to vacate my first choice, because I couldn't level out with all my blocks.
Verizon was about 3 bars, but it was a very solid 3 bars.
Restrooms, no water spigots. (I didn't go in the restroom, so I'm not sure if there was runnig water or not).
This is only three miles South of the more popular Kalaloch Campground.
The only downside: It closes seasonally around September 8! I got one night a this beautiful campground (that was at least half full at the time) before they kicked us all out. Kalaloch Campground is still filling to capacity at this time of year, so it seems far too early for them to close South Beach. Great campground, but don't plan on coming after summer to avoid the crowds — you wont' get in!

We happened upon this campground last year when we were exploring the Olympic Peninsula and I can't wait to go back. Spots are right on the beach, no hookups, but you seriously cannot beat the view for 10 bucks a night. We had three bars of Edge on AT&T.

Minutes after arriving, while my bf was registering us, I was just about to tie my dog up when a poop-faced couple came-a-walking. I said a cheery, "Hello!" The woman, instinctively, sort of almost smiled back. Her lips quickly turned slanted to match her constipated husband's face, though. A few minutes after that, my bf was back, and we were headed to the beach. He was ahead of me, on the beach, and I was leashing my dog by our RV. The camp host drove by, lectured me about leashing dogs, then yelled down to my bf at the water. Our dogs are very nice, friendly, mind their own business, don't run up to people, don't fight other dogs, don't bark, they did nothing that could annoy anybody, and there was barely anybody on the beach because it was May. In fact, I don't think anybody was walking on that beach the first time we got scolded. We did keep our dogs tethered the rest of our stay except for a few times, and each time they were off leash momentarily we got busted. We got four lectures about leashing our dogs in less than 24 hrs. So, this is a great spot if you don't like dogs! For dog lovers, though, it was pretty ridiculous to have to walk them on a leash on the unpopulated stretch of beach. Heck, when you go further south, there are dogs running around everywhere on the beach, in crowded locations. I'd rather be there. Other than that, it was awesome being so close to the ocean! Five stars for that. But there were no water taps anywhere, not even in the bathroom, so you couldn't fill a tub to wash dishes. We had to wash dishes with Aquafina.
