I was disappointed and felt a little misled by their website. While the campground is expansive, the sites are not as far apart as I thought they would be. But the sites still are way farther apart than the typical commercial campground. Very very quiet and beautiful star watching. The campground is pretty in a barren sort of way with a beautiful view across the valley of the Wind River foothills.
Pros: solitude; quiet;beautiful sunrises and sunsets; close to town
Cons: no office and never saw the owner; campsite numbers are difficult to read, leading to some confusion in trying to find your way around; no garbage receptacles of any kind and no instruction on what to do with garbage ( previous campers had simply left their garbage bags at their sites); expensive for what you get; campsite was a bit overgrown
Basically, we and another later arrival felt that basic amenities -signage, communication,etc-could be greatly improved with little effort or money, and the campground was very overpriced. We really wanted to like Solitude, but it left us disappointed.
Would not stay again, would rather stay at a national forest campground nearby.

I was wondering about the site as we pulled in; the first part of the road has old machinery and junk. Once you get to the site, it was okay. I was hoping to be in walking distance of the town since I didn't want to unhitch. It is not.
Not a bad site, but for the price I think I'll select a different place to stay next time.

We found ourselves in a parking lot in Dubois late at night after trying to outrun a snowstorm last week. My husband and I were looking online for a place to spend the night when a Sheriff’s vehicle pulled up beside us and asked if we were ok. We explained our situation and that we were looking for a place just for the rest of the night, because we needed to pull out in the morning. He told us he knew of a place and actually escorted us to the park and helped my husband back into the spot in the dark. Turned out, he was the owner of the park. We tried to pay him for the space, but he refused to take money from us “for doing a good deed. Besides, you are only staying a few hours.” He told us to hook up to the fifty amp service, and get a good nights sleep before pulling out.
Not only was he friendly and helpful, he went way out of his way to help us. The next morning we could see the space was wonderful! Huge distance between spaces, incredible views, and privacy, with full 30/50 amp hookup. He won a customer for life that night. We will make it a point to stay at this park every time we are in the area.
The space had a fire pit, complete with a stack of wood, and a picnic table. You won’t be sorry for choosing this place. We travel full time and were very impressed.

This parks name says it all. The sites are huge and level. All are spread out so you don't feel Cramer in. The views are amazing and Eric was very helpful with recommendations for things to do and see. I would absolutely stay here again!

We enjoyed the local prairie dog, chipmunk, and rabbit population. They’re super cute to watch. Just across the highway is a little river and a pond. It’s great for fishing but also for letting the pup swim. The town is small but close and boasts some really great home-town restaurants. We are digital nomads so WiFi is very important and the WiFi here is perfect. We had no issues! As bonuses, they come around and collect your trash each day and provide fire wood for your site. The host was very friendly and we just loved our stay. If they weren’t already booked, we would have stayed longer.

This was a beautiful place to stay. Eric the manager came by and gave every site wood for the fire pit and asked if everything was good. We stayed in site 5 and loved it.

We spent the entire month of July 2020 at Solitude RV Park and loved it! The full hook-up sites are HUGE and well-spaced. We had amazing views from our site. The park abuts public lands with miles of hiking, and there is a paved bike trail that leads to a fishing pond and river access across the road. Eric, the manager, is great and very helpful with recommendations for dining, hiking, fishing, and biking in the area. At the time of our stay, free firewood was provided - just make sure you check for Red Flag Warnings before using it!
It was a bit of a drive to Grand Teton National Park from here, but staying at such a spacious, quiet park was worth it. It's not far from Bridger-Teton National Forest, lots of great hikes, and miles of OHV trails.
While this park doesn't have amenities such as a pool or playground, our son actually spent more time playing outside at this park than he had in a long time.
Be advised that there are no restrooms in this RV park, but the sites are full hook-up. Also, the wind can pick up suddenly and be very intense at times - do NOT leave your awning out if you're not at your site.
There is also no office on site, so you must call when you arrive.

We called in to make our reservation. Eric was a bit laconic on the phone but super helpful and friendly when we arrived (plus he gave us spot #5 right next to the wifi repeater when my husband asked about reception). He's a deputy sheriff, plus runs The Perch coffee shop with his wife, so a busy man, but he was by regularly to check on things, pick up garbage and offer advice. He told us about a nice mtb ride nearby and hooked us up with a guy who was doing RV repairs while in town.
You drive up past a sort of truck/equipment dump area and it doesn't seem promising but the RV spots are in a little canyon higher up. No shade or trees and if you don't like the desert this isn't for you. If you do, it's beautiful and the sky is amazing at night. Also, we loved the Xmas tree lights!
The campground is on the badlands side of Dubois. The river goes through town and there are mountains on the other side. You have great views of the mountains from your spot.
The spots are reasonably sized and level and have full hookups. There was a sewage smell from our sewer hook up but we just closed the drain until it was time to dump (and Eric is having someone take a look). Also, the water tasted a little weird so we just drank bottled. The wifi was great! I worked every day and did zoom calls. The wind was more of a problem (the day I tried to sit outside for a call), than the internet.
There is a small mtb area at one end of town that's very fun. And nearby Whiskey Basin is gorgeous and has great hikes. The town park is good too (husband caught several fish in an hour).
Town itself is a little bleak. Seems depressed -- dollar store is hopping and fully stocked but hardware store in middle of town is practically empty as is pharmacy. Real estate prices don't seem to be down though.
We only drove by the other RV parks but at a first impression, The Longhorn is pretty and has some spots on the water although they looked more packed in and Windhaven is right on the water but is basically a gravel parking area with small spots. Either looked more than acceptable but we really loved the feel of Solitude and would return again.
