“Very small town. 30 minutes from Ocala National Forest.”

Overall Rating

This RV park is located within a very small, remote town of Crescent City, outside of Ocala National Forest. We happened to stop here because we wanted a affordable place to stay, and with our Passport America discount, it was a decent price. There was a mix of permanent residents, "snowbirds", and some campers staying for a few nights. We ended up staying longer than expected because our dogs were ill, and we utilized the pharmacy at the VERY closely located, Winn Dixie (which, was a +), but, would probably only stay here again if we had a long day of driving and needed a spot to stop for the night.

The staff at Sned Acres was EXTREMELY nice and helpful and are really trying to improve the campground. We actually camped right next to Don, a very friendly staff member who tried to help us hook up cable (but, it did not work). We did figure out that some sites did have cable, but, ours did not. Also, the WiFi that was provided here did not work for us either. Our phone service was fine, though (Verizon). They do have group campfires and karaoke, if you're lucky!

EXPLORING: This campground was a 45 minute drive to Juniper Springs and 30 minutes to Alexander Springs in Ocala National Forest - highly recommend seeing both! We would stay at the Juniper Springs campground next time we visit the area - it looked beautiful! Also, we hiked at the Crescent Lake Conservation area, which was only a 15 minute drive! Free, remote, and AMAZING scenery (hidden gem)!!!!

DOGS: This was a dog friendly place, with some walking trails through the forest. Don treated our pups to a "welcome" biscuit. =)

“Now Called Sned Acres Family Campground”

Reviewed Jan 28, 2017

Overall Rating

Sned Acres is a clean, well (mostly) maintained older campground. There are pull-through and back-in sites with 50/30 amp power, water and sewer, and a dump station. They have propane refilling on site. The bathhouse and laundry areas are very nice, with all appliances clean and working. Some of the back-in sites have a concrete pad for your awning/patio area. The campground is terraced so some of the sites are sloped in various directions and are close together (really too close). There are mature trees (pines and oaks) disbursed throughout. There are older park models and a few old mobile homes scattered around the park but most are kept neat and in reasonably good order. Our pull through site #24 was very long and easy to get in and out of from the campground entrance. The 50 amp receptacle was upside down on our site, so I ended up with our surge protector pointed up and the cord to the RV wrapped around the meter to get it plugged in. All the occupants and staff we encountered were very friendly and polite and quiet time is adhered to every night, even on the weekends. On the office door there is a sign that says “Wi-Fi is free but not guaranteed” and that is obviously there for a reason. The campground Wi-Fi was definitely an enigma. The broadcast was constantly showing available, and then gone unreachable at all times of day as if it were constantly crashing, and the ability to connect to it was just as sketchy when it was briefly broadcasting. They offer cable TV however we noticed there were cable wires running along the ground all through the campground, indicating that the original buried cable was probably no longer usable. The cable reception in our RV was more like listening to cable TV rather than watching it, the signal was only strong enough to produce a snowy nearly unwatchable screen. We used this campground for a more affordable stay within reasonable distance to Flagler Beach and Ormond so it served it’s purpose for us, although at $38 per night it’s overpriced due to the reasons above. It would not have worked for a long term stay although there are many people doing just that who have their own Wi-Fi and satellite service to eliminate the issues with both.
While we were there severe storms rolled through the area, including an imminent tornado warning. The owners were very attentive to the situation and opened the recreation room and asked people to leave their RVs for better shelter. We appreciated their concern and the sense of community that thrives at Sned Acres. I also met some of the work campers during our stay and they are really great people working hard to make Sned Acres a better place to visit.
