We camped here Friday June 7th and left on Sunday June 9th nothing said anything about it being closed due to bear activity. We even talked to a park ranger that pulled in and he said it’s an active bear zone but open to the public for camping. Either way it was a nice little camping area on the snake river with wildlife everywhere. ... more

“Great river views and sounds with bear boxes included”

There are about 4-5 pull offs on this road with 2 sites and a vault toilet at each one. We only drove up to the third one and claimed that spot. (travelling East to West) One of the best spots in my opinion, right at a point where the river bends and you can just stare down river a least a half mile and watch for wildlife. We did have ... more

We stayed here one night in early October. No bugs, but it was cold. Beautiful site, right near the river. Easy to access and find. There are a few small clusters of numbered sites along the road. It was pretty busy during our stay on a Wednesday. Amenities were pit toilets, bear boxes, picnic table, and fire pit. Not very level. This ... more

“Can't beat location! Right on the river”

Reviewed Oct 04, 2017

Nice spot right on the Snake River. Just up Grassy Lake Rd on the left hand side. The area I camped in had 4 spots I believe. There was pit toilets, fire pits and bear boxes. I posted up in a spot right up off the river. Location really can't be beat if you're looking to go to Tetons or Yellowstone. Also, lodge with amenities/supplies ... more

“Fire damaged and mosquito infested”

Apparently the huge fire in 2016 is still causing problems, as most of the campgrounds were closed due to fire. Campground #2 had two sites, both full, and #5 (actually the sixth campground we encountered) only had one site. All others were closed, and we ended up sharing a gravel parking area with two other families and about 5000 m... more

“Riverside Camping a Few Miles from Yellowstone”

Reviewed Aug 04, 2016

Snake River is a hidden gem located so close to Yellowstone's south entrance. The sites are spread out down Grassy Lake Road. There are multiple camps with between 2-4 established sites at each. As you drive down Grassy Lake Rd, the path gets harder to navigate the further you go. We had no problem towing our 16' camper down the... more
