Great park with clean bathrooms. The beach was a little bit of a hike but worth it.

Nice campground with mediocre Verizon service. While most sites are adequate in size for 30’ trailers, many lack a feeling of privacy as they are close together with direct views of others. Many need to park their tow vehicle on grass as the pad isn’t long enough to accommodate both the trailer and TV. A number of campers park their TV on the campsite perpendicular to the pad because of space and to provide privacy. The waste drop area is undersized for the number of sites, with only one sewer available with a splitter mounted on top. Trails are accessible and easy. Although the campground was full, it was quiet once dusk approached. Bathrooms and showers were in good shape.

Though barely half an hour north of downtown Lancing, you'd think you were much further north. No roads nearby, dark sky (I saw shooting stars and the milky way), a well-laid-out campground with great trails, and a nice lake. I walked up for a Thursday night spot just before the Labor Day weekend. Though the campground was filling up there were still plenty of spaces available, though I was told it was booked solid for the weekend. The office staff was friendly and helpful. The dump station is located just as you enter the campground with two freshwater fills and a dump with sewer hoses provided. Over 30 sites have been renovated with 50 amp and are concrete, and close to 10 are pull-through. The remaining sites are 30 amp with asphalt, some sloped more than others. Basic supplies can be had at Laingsburg about 5 miles away. T-Mobile was pretty dead in the campground though I hit a few LTE & 5G spots out on the trails. AT&T 4G service at the campground office was 10 DL & 4.5 UL when I arrived (and when there weren't many people) but by the evening was down to 2 DL & <1 UL.

Most sites have shade and trees or foliage separating sites. There are quite a few pull thru sites with concrete pads, and the rest have asphalt pads. The bathrooms were ok, the water was very heavy with iron and not drinkable. We were visiting family in East Lansing, so did not go to the beach or view the lake, but the other campers seemed to be enjoying it. Racoons were evident.

I’ve been to the lake several times as a kid but this was my first time camping there. Highly recommend, friendly staff, the lots were leveled with asphalt pads, and the water site was easy to access. I will say the cell service is awful, I have Verizon and while I had service at the lake, I didn’t have much if any service at my actual lot site. This wasn’t a bad thing for me but just wanted to give that heads up that there’s essentially no reception for the area. I personally do not have a booster so I can’t say if that would help, but without a booster there was no service - my phone kept bouncing between no service entirely, 2 bars with no data available, or 1 bar of 1x. Our lot was also a 20/30 amp, it was back in, and that was $27/night, but they do have ADA/pull through/50 amp lots. Those were closer to $31/night. Each spot had a fire pit, and there’s lots of trail access connecting the lots and paths around the park, too. We paid in person which was much cheaper, you can make reservations online but there’s an $8 fee on the Michigan state park website so be aware of that surcharge if booking online. Our spot was just big enough for our 30’ rv, and we had enough space to park our Kia Optima alongside the rv but it was a snug fit all around.

Nice spot with lots of trees for privacy. Site 78 was a little tight backing in with a 32 foot. Electric was right next to the camper, 50A. Trail to the lake passes right behind the site.

Playground is newer, with horseshoes, ladder ball, washer toss, basketball, gagaball, fire pit..very impressive. The beach is a short walk away. Great private lake, no wake. Perfect for canoe/kayak. Swim area has nice sand beach, water is warm, inland lake, murky, lots of seaweed. The dump station has a double sewer hose connection, which makes for a stinky empty. Unless you could somehow cap the other hose. Camp rangers were always around, even touring around the campground in their golf cart.

We came in on a Thursday evening and had a great stay. We stayed in the South Loop where there are less children. The playground is in the North Loop of the Park.
Note: there is very weak cell signal in this Park, we are on Verizon and only had 1 bar of 3G! The phone did crazy things.
Note: you will need at minimum 75’ of shore power cordage in this campground. Each power poll is shared between 2 sites, which means that 1 site will have the service on the wrong side of your coach.
We have an A Frame Camper so it was easy to get around in the Park, but the longer 5th wheel truck & trailers will experience some difficulties making the Loop turns.
