How long can a motorhome park for free here? Do any sites have water hook-up?

This area still allows camping, however there is no longer any electrical hookup. This means you will be boondocking/dry camping. There is a water spigot in the park you can use to fill up water jugs.

I always used the restaurant or tire place across the street when I stopped there, and even bought propane locally, now no local businesses will benefit.

Hookups still locked so it’s essentially a gravel lot to park in. Not terrible. There is a water spigot in the park we used. By the main road so you may hear some trucks, but nothing too crazy.

We stayed here 3 days. I called the town and was told the electric boxes are still locked due to Covid, but it's fine to camp for 3 days (we have solar). We parked along the back. We stayed here 3 days. I called the town and was told the electric boxes are still locked due to Covid, but it's fine to camp for 3 days (we have solar). We parked along the back. There are six dogs behind a fence, but they are surprisingly quiet and very friendly. The highway was pretty close, but almost no traffic at night. There's a water spigot, which was working in mid-April. Other options for camping closer to Quitaque would be the rail-trail parking lot ($5pp state park fee). The SP actually has two overflow camping areas, so I'd say they'd let you camp there except on a busy weekend. The one near the lake is nicer than the area by the horse camp. Just go to the desk and ask. Five bars LTE for T-Mobile and 4 for Verizon. No TV signal. The cafe across the street had inconsistent hours and we weren't impressed.

I went out of my way to stay at this “free” site, only to find all the sites with a pad lock on them. It could be a COVID-19 thing. I would certainly check before you go out of your way to stay here.

There are 3 electrical hookups, 2 on the side and one bigger one in the back by the alley way. The back one has a dumpster close by and the only place to fill up with water. It was the best spot for us as our front yard was a lovely little park for our kids to play at! Many slides, swings, a merry-go-round. This small town is quiet and the people are friendly. We had a few delicious meals at the little diner across the street and also enjoyed some snow cones down the street. We visited Lake Mackenzie and Caprock Canyon State Park during our stay. Would definitely stay again. 💙🤙🏼

This was a great free site to stop with our family. There are 3 electric hook ups but only one water hook up that we could find. Lucky for us we were the only ones here so we were able to have the spot along the alley closest to the dumpster that had electric and water. Our kids and dog enjoyed the playground and we had fun taking a bike ride through town. This is a very quiet town with few cars and people around. We would definitely stay here again.

This city park is on a corner, bordered by a main street and a residential street. Noise was minimal that late at night. The sites closer to the residential street weren’t as long as the one site closest to the chain link fenced backyards and homes. Best was the free electricity. Pedestals had 50,30, and 20 amp connections. Gas station across the street was convenient.

While here we discovered many services in this quiet city. At the nearby Silver Wind RV Park, there is a laundry, RV dump $5.00 and shower $5.00. Three restaurants, propane at Silverton Oil & Gas for motorhomes A B C & bottles, located on Hwy 86 on East end of town.
Very quiet town & road noise.
