Silver Lake West Campground

I have stayed here at least 5 times and enjoyed it every time. The location is very convenient to Silver Lake and there is also a great 1 mile hike to the nearby potholes, a series of swimming holes along the stream that discharges from Silver Lake. The park host is always helpful and friendly and will give you a car pass to access both Silver and Caples Lake boat ramps, which are also operated by Eldorado Irrigation District. There is good cell phone service if you walk to the high point in the campground. Sites right next to the highway can be noisy, but it is possible to get away from the highway and barely notice the noise. Small trailers only, tents are the better option here. Pit toilets are well maintained and clean.
