Silver Creek West Campground

We were looking for a location not too far from Craters of the Moon National Monument. This fit the bill, and it was right on our way to Boise. My topo map indicated a hiking trail from here to the East campground, but it was a creepy, overgrown path with sticker bushes, so I turned around. There really was nowhere to hike except down the road back to highway 20, which I did, and this gave me a chance to take photos of the beautiful farmland. This was a pretty popular location with about eight other rigs the Friday night we were there, and some of them were HUGE compared to our 23-foot trailer, but there’s lots of space. You just pull in and park wherever. The mosquitoes were ferocious, but you know, you’re parked next to a creek, so it’s to be expected. In the morning lots of people came to fish, but they were so quiet, I was stunned when I exited my camper in the morning to find about 10 people getting ready to fish. One note about accessing the location, Google Maps will take you to a private access road. You need to go about a quarter mile farther north on S Picabo Rd to 43.32718, -114.11086, which is the public access road. You’ll see the sign posted with this review. Turn right and you’re there.
