We have a 40’ rig, are we going to have a hard time getting there? What exit should we take off of I-84?

We boondocked here for 11 days in our 41 ft fifth wheel. There is an open field for big rigs, but that is the only spot that is big rig friendly. This is an amazing location, but there are not many sites. Every one I saw had someone in it, with the south vault toilet area already having 3 RVs/cars. When I found only 1 car at the north vault toilet parking lot (with creek running nearby), I asked and they let me stay. LOVE having a vault available since I’m car camping, but I... more

LOVE having a vault available since I’m car camping, but I would not count on being alone.

Didn’t stay the night because I got here at 11am and it was pouring so I decided to go check out the ice cave. Place looks amazing though. Secluded and has 2 picnic tables with a roof.

This is a gem of a place. Lots of space and few neighbors. Well set up dispersed camping. Just amazing. Don't be afraid of the short slightly washboarded road coming in.

Came from Boise and drove about 4 miles on dirt road. Was so worth the trek. Stayed the first site which was only for one camper. Had own private toilet pit. Camped right off the river. Wake up to amazing views!

Campendium had this campsite listed so we checked it out and it didn’t disappoint. East to get to and free. It had hard stand bathrooms or great parking for an rv. Full bars on Verizon with LTE. Absolutely recommended.

When we arrived there were some RVs (and tons of cows) in the field that appears to be open for dispersed camping. The ground seemed really bumpy and not level. So we opted to camp in one (of 2) of the actual sites along the River. It was very narrow getting the bus in there, and luckily no one else was around because we did a 20 point turn to get the bus turned around. We got some scrapes on the sides of the rig due to thorny branches. And we lost a chunk of our tire due to a sharp volcanic rock on the way out.
A BLM staffer came by and told us we had the largest RV he’d ever seen in the spot.
Despite the difficult access, this spot was amazing!! Super clean and new feeling. Beautiful patio, raised tent pad, nice shade cover (could even hang a hammock from it!).
There’s a vault toilet if you need it.
Easy river access for fishing or floating or letting the dogs play and swim.
We had good cell signal.
We made a day trip to Hailey to ride the bike path all the way into town:

We stayed here one night and saw a few others. The next day we rode our bikes around and found the best site which is to the left when you pull in to the camping area. There is a perfect spot next to the toilets. It has a picnic table and unbelievable views of the cliffs and river. The water is so clear you can just sit in it all day. Fishing would be great if you had gear. We could
Live here. Cell reception was excellent too.

This was a great spot with plenty of little nooks and crannies to park the rig. Only 30 minutes from Craters of the Moon. However, once we pulled onto the road, we took the first right turn in. We soon realized that it was too narrow for our RV and was putting some major scratches down the side; however, we couldn't turn around! So, learn from our rookie mistake and only park in the spaces that are very clearly big enough for your rig.
