Glenwood Springs West - Colorado River KOA Holiday

I don’t usually do reviews of KOAs but this one deserves one. It was beautiful! The site was right next to the river. It was a large site with a grill under a small pavilion like structure complete with chairs and a fire pit with 2 more chairs. The site was level. In fact, the whole campground was very well managed and maintained. The dog park was even stellar. We were here 4 nights and enjoyed them all. Showers and bathrooms were clean and very comfortable. Laundry was organized and did what it was supposed to-washed and dried without shrinking anything.
My only complaint is that when it is called the Glenwood Springs KOA it is a solid 20 minutes from Glenwood Springs. However, that is on us since we didn’t check the distance. A beautiful, clean, well managed KOA.

A very well kept KOA with helpful staff. Lots of amenities. My site was a bit small, even for my teardrop trailer but the staff member who led me to the site was helpful while I was backing in. The Colorado River borders the campground, I saw people fishing off the banks. A nice gas station & convenience store is right next door. Good ATT signal. The campground's name is a bit misleading. It's 20 miles west of Glenwood Springs.

Pool and splash pad was a big hit with the grand kids.
Well kept campground, little bit of grass and young trees at most the sites. The complaints about the noise is laughable. Look at a map, your 300 yards off an interstate highway and railroad. There was noise but I wasn’t expecting a wilderness experience.
Kudos to the owners and staff. It’s obvious you all care about your guests experience

We only stayed one night so we didn’t get to try out the amenities. But we were so impressed with how clean and organized everything was. Huge parking spot for our 40’ motorhome and car trailer. Huge concrete pad with fire pit. Our own grassy area. And a stunning view of the river! Will absolutely be coming back and intend to stay longer.

Arrival - Perfectly easy with online booking and nice arrival staging area. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

Tips - Arrive early, there were 5 rigs behind us after we checked in at 1400.

Favorites - Really nice KOA on the Colorado River. Awesome KOA right off of I-70 ~ 18 miles from Glenwood Springs. The town of Silt was small and quaint with good pizza. Glenwood Springs is always a favorite and the pool didn't disappoint. Great Jazz to be heard on the public plaza right outside the Riviera Supper Club. Great ice cream sundaes to be had at The Chocolate Moose. Unimpeded sight line for StarLink.

Negatives - Deceptively unlevel site; had a difficult time leveling the rig on this site when oriented to the rear. The highway noise can be bothersome at times but, fans combated at sleep time.

This was our first KOA site and it was very nice. We only had a quick overnight stay here but the bathrooms and showers were very clean. The pool looked well kept and the office and staff were very nice. There is a large RV/Truck Friendly Gas station right out front of the ground which was very convenient. I would stop here again :) Pretty view and a dog park near the river.

Pros:
- Check in was smooth
- Leveled sites, gravel and grass around
- Hookup was great
- Backin sites have an amazing view of the Colorado river
- Facilities super clean, new
- Hot tub and pool (although we did not use)

Cons
- NOISE! OMG, it's unbearable the noise from i70. I knew we would be right by it but some friends kept telling us how great the place was so we gave it a go.

If you need a single night, go for it. Very pricy for a single night but if you want a guaranteed clean, safe and cool place, this is it. If you want an extended stay, I'd travel a little further to Palisade or Grand Juction or Glenwood Springs.
