“Good free spot off highway”

Reviewed Jun 05, 2019

Overall Rating

Good, clean, free, quiet. We pulled off here at night after driving all day and tent camped. Ground was a little bit rocky so we couldn’t put the stakes in and very windy so we just used the rocks from the fire pit. Got a fire going, no one else was around. They allow 14 days dispersed camping in this area.

“Great little free area”

Reviewed May 24, 2019

Very well kept and clean. Flat gravel road in. You just park wherever you want and can. No designated spots, just larger areas on the sides of road in. There is a fairly large circle at the very end where the trail head is. We arrived on a Thursday and we were almost the only ones there. We saw a few rock fire pits here and there but n... more

“Easy to find and easy to stay. ”

Reviewed Apr 22, 2019

Overall Rating

Stayed here one night car camping. Several big rigs and it was almost full, but if it was we would have still parked here, found someplace to squeeze in.

The sites are level or level enough.

There were some people a ways away, obviously drinking and talking loudly, but it ended before 10pm.

“Easy, free primitive campground-style camping”

Reviewed Feb 27, 2019

Overall Rating

This area has been developed into probably a dozen designated camping sites with post-and-cable fencing blocking off other areas. It's a nice road, well-graded, with easy access, but not the more dispersed-style camping that is described in many earlier reviews. Though we didn't plan to stay in the campground proper, we were hoping to ... more

“Beautiful views and quiet nights.”

Reviewed Jan 23, 2019

As previous reviews have said, the camping area is easily accessed directly off a paved highway. The road into the main camping area has been graded and recently covered in fresh gravel. The roadway is wide enough for big rigs (ours is 65 feet when hitched up) and there is a large area to turn around at the trailhead, as long as there ... more

We are so grateful to have stumbled across this gem. The access road is well marked with a sign (you can’t miss it) and there are a few camping spots along the road that fit mid sized rigs. Past a certain point, the road becomes accessible only to 4 wheel drive vehicles. We camped on the last spot before the road narrowed, offering ... more

“Great views, recently upgraded”

Reviewed Nov 25, 2018

As the last couple of reviewers have mentioned, they’ve added in post and cable fencing along the roadway with a few designated camp spots, so a lot of the older pictures aren’t really relevant any more. Fresh gravel makes the drive in super easy. The sites are relatively close together (all are within about a half mile stretch), but w... more

360 View of the Organ Mts! Just beautiful sunrise to sunset! New gravel makes dry camping so easy! Thanks to John G’s review we came here! Be sure to hike to dripping springs via the BLM office if you visit. Come before sunset to easily find your spot.

Drove down past all the easy gravel pullouts to a more remote spot. Recommend high clearance vehicle if doing the same as it is very uneven, Rocky and eroded.
