“Lovely Spot In The Woods”

Nice spot in the woods. Easy access off of route 14. Lake is pretty. No cell service for miles. I think the sites in the electric section feel more secluded. At least stay on the outside of the loop on the non-electric side.

Good spot and quiet. But people reported T-Mobile coverage. But nope. Walked all over and there isn’t any.

Senior rate. We had site #5. Trail down to lake directly from our spot. 5 minute walk to clear, cold lake with easy access to wade or swim.

I was worried about the drive here, coming from the east on scenic Rt 14, which is a continuous steep grade, winding it's way through the mountains. No problem though. The speed limit most, if not all, of the way was 40, with 25 or 30 on curves. Lots of scenic pull-offs on the way, and gorgeous views! On the drive west down Alt 14 was a different matter, brakes overheating and had to pull off several times to let them cool down. Unhooked the jeep, didn't help. Was a bit scary!!
The campground is not on, but close to, beautiful little Sibley Lake. Lots of kayakers on the lake. Within walking distance.
The campground is situated in a pine forest and in July, when the lower elevations were in the upper 80's, it was 74 at the campground, dropping to the lower 60s and 50s at night. We ran our furnace at night. Zero, and I mean, ZERO internet service. We use Verizon. Drive down to Bear Lodge (about 5 miles west on Alt 14) for free wifi. If you plan on using an app to hike trails, then bring a map, or download. There are many, many off-road vehicle roads going through the beautiful backcountry. Road 15 is nicely graded with some washboard. Many other spurs off of 15 are navigable only with 4x4 vehicle or ORV. Stop at the Visitors Center west about 3 Miles on Rt 14 for ORV maps.
There are 3 water spigots throughout the campground that are threaded for hose attachment. No dump station or shower house. Pit toilets. Dump station located further west, about 4.5 miles, off of 14 at Burgess Dumpstation.
Pretty quiet area, a few barking dogs. Very nice campground. Would definitely return.

Awesome CG with about 10 large sites with electricity . Another 10 or so sites without electricity. Beautiful lake . Nearby hiking on Nordic ski trails are good but not great. Sites well spaced. Host cared for CG well with best vault toilets I have seen .

We passed several full CGs and got this site, because someone cancelled. Got lucky.
The CG was just a place to park for us. We explore.
Advice for the drive in... The Hwy 14 crosses the Bighorn Mountains. It is VERY Long and STEEP on both sides. If your rig does not have LOTS of ponies for this climb, DO NOT attempt when the temps are high. We passed a few sidelined rigs and one had smoke. Not Good!
The Black Mountain lookout is a nearby hike and the view is magnificent. A must do!
Lots of off road opportunities here too. :-)
