Short Mountain Cove

Wasn't expecting to find such beautiful place. Sites on the water are shady and comfortable with nice breeze coming off the river. Most sites are even. Electric and water. Discount for National Park Pass holders.

After several near perfect visits to other COE campgrounds on our grand 8 week adventure, we encountered our first “m’eh” stay.

Signage entering the park was limited so we found ourselves all turned around. Then we found our site in the middle of a grassy field, no natural shade and ant hills scattered throughout the area.

Wish I could explain what we found unsettling- mostly just the vibe of the campground was “neglected”..from the swim areas, to the bath house, to the general signage - it just didn’t feel relaxing.

Many fellow campers far exceeded the vehicle counts, making passage on the road a challenge.

Sites on the water- looked to have areas to dock your boat so that could be an advantage.

But if you are looking for a picturesque campground with a nice swim area to cool off- you’d be better served finding another campground.
