Walked through the check out the sites, but the gate was up blocking the entrance.
Train tracks were nearby, but there was a nice site loop off the road.
Only about 10 minutes off of I-20, great place if you’re passing though

A very nice place for dispersed camping. No pull throughs. Our 31’ 5th wheel fit fine. Just off I-20. The picnic day area was clean and well kept. There are 10 camp sites, each has a large firering. All of them were loaded down with trash (cans and non-but able stuff). We stayed at site 10 and had to clean the ring in order to use it. ... more

A shame that some people don’t leave their camp site clean for the next person. We’re heading back there for another overnight.

water available outside the vault toilet and a 2 spigot in the common area/open wooded area inside the loop. (unsure if the spigots in the loop are potable).
the road is rutted at the railroad crossing before entering the park, and also areas of the loop that circles around the campsites.
relatively clean, some trash left behind in the fire pits by other campers. There are secured trash bins throughout.
every site has a gravel area with picnic table, fire pit and separate grill.
Train tracks nearby, but heard the train just a couple times during the day...and not at all at night.
very easily accessible from I-20.

Great US Forest Service campground not too far off of I-20. No power or water. Easy access in. You’ll hear a train pass by a few times through the night. Surrounded by tall pines, beautiful area.

I was so grateful to find this spot via Campendium on a cross country trip. I needed a night in nature and I got it. The tall pines are gorgeous and I was the only one there on April 2nd. Arriving after dark, was fine. There was no locked gate. I had no reservation. There is an envelope fee system so you have to have $7 cash or a check. The road and the campsites are mixed dirt and gravel so it probably wouldn’t be great in the rain, but it was dry and sunny for my stay and I loved it. There is a vault toilet if you need. There were about 10 sites and I think all or most had a fire pit and picnic table. There was a train they honked loudly twice in the night and woke me up but other than that it was quiet and peaceful. There might be a trail system that starts or ends here, but I didn’t stay to check it out. Simple campsite with beautiful pines!

The campground is only 1,000 yards from US Highway 80. The road is dirt but good quality. The sites have picnic tables and fire pits. Only one other camper was in the area. Cell was 2 bars, I used a booster and got it to 4 on the jetpack. Site was level. Clean. Just an overnight stay on the way to Florida, but would use it... more
